Update on MiniMed 670G Availability

Today, I’m excited to share that we’re rolling out the MiniMed 670G system, beginning with those in the Priority Access program. But before we get into details, on behalf of the entire Medtronic team, I want to extend both my gratitude and my commitment to you.
First, thank you for your enthusiasm for this new technology.
We’re incredibly inspired by the many positive stories from those who’ve experienced the system (like Nicky and John) – either in the clinical trial or the initial Customer Training Phase – and from the anticipation expressed by our community. We are honored and humbled by the opportunity to contribute to a big change in your life with diabetes.
Thank you also for your patience.
We know the rollout of this first-of-its-kind technology is taking time. We’re doing our best to process orders and provide training as quickly as possible. However, the demand for the product surpassed even our own expectations. And we strongly believe that ensuring you have a great experience is more important than speed.
With its exclusive SmartGuard HCL technology, the MiniMed 670G system takes a more active role in diabetes management than any technology that’s come before it. The system automatically adjusts basal insulin delivery throughout the day to maintain stable glucose levels. As a result, we’re seeing people spending more Time in Range and less time thinking about their diabetes, which is fantastic! But that also means it’s more critical than ever that each person who goes on the system and their healthcare team is comfortable. Even if it requires a little more time and patience from both of us.
This is where our commitment comes in.
Our first and foremost commitment to you is that we’ll do everything we can to ensure you have a great experience with this transformational new technology. We’re also committed to communicating with you as clearly as possible throughout the process. We’ve heard your feedback that some earlier information wasn’t as clear as it could have been. If that’s the case, we’re sorry and we’re committed to doing better. We’re here to answer your questions and help however we can.
Now, to answer the big question: “When can I get the MiniMed 670G system?”
Next Steps for Priority Access Program Participants
For those of you enrolled in the Priority Access program, thanks again for your patience. Just as we committed to you when you enrolled in the program, you may be among the first to receive the MiniMed 670G system. Through this special program, you may also upgrade to the MiniMed 670G system for as little as $0, provided you return your MiniMed 630G system and participate in activities such as taking surveys and sharing your experiences. For next steps, look for an email with the subject “Place Your Order For The MiniMed 670G System,” read it carefully and either click the “yes” button to place your order or “no” to decline. The email will explain the simple, 5-step process.
There are a few items I’d like to point out. I’m not sure we’ve been quite clear enough on these in the past, so I want to do my best here.
1. To confirm your order, you will need to pay $299. Because of the way our systems and processes are set up, this is needed to move forward with the order. Our email will direct you to the online store. The $299 will not be charged until your pump ships. It will also be refunded as promptly as possible once you return your MiniMed 630G system and complete the surveys and other activities, bringing your cost down to $0. Update as of 6/16/17: Please see clarification in bold below for how this process will work.
2. Because this technology is different from your current system, we need a new prescription from your doctor to ship your MiniMed 670G system. We’ll work with your doctor to get this.
3. We may also need to contact your insurance company. While your provider will not be paying for your MiniMed 670G pump or transmitter, we may need to verify coverage for your ongoing supplies.
4. We expect Priority Access pump shipments to begin over the next few weeks and continue through Fall 2017.
Next Steps For Those NOT in Priority Access
Because it’s important that we keep our commitment to those who enrolled in Priority Access, we will ship MiniMed 670G pumps and CGM to those people first. This could take a few months. In the meantime:
1. If you are new to pump therapy or ready to upgrade from a previous system, you can get started here.
2. If you are still in-warranty on your current insulin pump and CGM system, we’ll have information about upgrade programs later this summer. Today, you can learn more about the MiniMed 670G system here and stay up to date be following us on Facebook and Instagram.
Thank you once again for putting your trust in us. We’re thrilled to bring the diabetes community the world’s first hybrid closed loop system. And we welcome your questions and feedback – whether it’s about this first-of-its-kind product, the rollout, training or service. If you’ve been with us a long time you know that we’re not just here to provide the most advanced technology. Service, support and training are also important parts of how we help you through your journey with diabetes. So ask us your questions. Let us know how we’re doing. And stay connected with us.
IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION (6/16/17):
Hello everyone, I want to apologize for the confusion and inconvenience around this process and provide some clarification. Through our System Access program, you have the ability to reduce the amount you pay down to $0 when you upgrade to the MiniMed 670G system. To do this, you need to do two things:
1. Return your MiniMed 630G pump and transmitter within 120 days of your MiniMed 670G pump shipment. We will provide you a return envelope.
AND
2. Complete a set of activities that includes taking surveys, sharing your story and uploading to CareLink. These activities must be completed within 120 days from when your MiniMed 670G system is shipped.
Note: Please know that by completing these activities you give us permission to use the content. This helps us better understand you, so we can develop products and services that better meet your needs.
The total value assigned to this set of activities we are asking you to complete is $299. Therefore, if you choose not to do these activities, you will be charged $299 after the 120 day period ends. If you choose to do these activities, this amount will either be refunded or credited promptly after you 1) return your MiniMed 630G system AND 2) complete the activities. Both of these steps must be completed within 120 days from when your MiniMed 670G system is shipped.
You have two options for how to manage the $299 value: a Medtronic account debit or an upfront credit card charge.
Medtronic Account Debit Option
For the debit option, we’ll defer the payment from you and instead create a debit on your Medtronic account. This means our system will show a balance owed of $299, but your credit card will not be charged upfront.
1. If you return your MiniMed 630G pump and transmitter and complete the required activities, you’ll owe $0 and will not be billed.
2. If you choose not to complete the required activities, you’ll be billed the $299 after 120 days.
3. If you choose not to return the MiniMed 630G pump and transmitter, you’ll be billed $3,700 for the full cost of the system.
Upfront Credit Card Charge Option
1. If you pay upfront and return your MiniMed 630G system before beginning the activities, we’ll refund each of the required activities as you complete them, incrementally bringing down the $299 balance.
2. If you return your MiniMed 630G system after you complete the required activities, you’ll receive one refund payment once we receive your pump.
3. You must both return the pump and complete the activities within 120 days from shipment of your MiniMed 670G system in order to receive the refund.
For Those Who Have Already Placed Your Order
If you’ve already placed your order, your credit card has not been charged. When we are ready to ship your order, we’ll reach out to you to review your options. At that time, you can choose either the Medtronic Account Debit Option or Upfront Credit Card Charge Option. No action is needed at this time.
Thank you very much for your patience.
Important Safety Information
The Medtronic MiniMed 670G system requires a prescription and is intended for continuous delivery of basal insulin (at user selectable rates) and administration of insulin boluses (in user selectable amounts) for the management of Type 1 diabetes mellitus in persons, fourteen years of age and older, requiring insulin as well as for the continuous monitoring and trending of glucose levels in the fluid under the skin. The MiniMed 670G System includes SmartGuard technology, which can be programmed to automatically adjust delivery of basal insulin based on Continuous Glucose Monitor sensor glucose values, and can suspend delivery of insulin when the sensor glucose value falls below or is predicted to fall below predefined threshold values.
The Guardian Sensor (3) is not intended to be used directly for making therapy adjustments, but rather to provide an indication of when a finger stick may be required. All therapy adjustments should be based on measurements obtained using a home glucose monitor and not on values provided by the Guardian Sensor (3).
Pump therapy is not recommended for people whose vision or hearing does not allow recognition of pump signals and alarms. Do not use the serter on products other than the Enlite sensor or Guardian Sensor (3). Medtronic cannot guarantee the safety or efficacy of this product if used with other products. The reservoir is contraindicated for the infusion of blood or blood products. Infusion sets are indicated for subcutaneous use only and not for intravenous (IV) infusion or the infusion of blood or blood products. Insulin pump therapy is not recommended for those who are unwilling to perform at least four blood glucose tests per day. As insulin pumps use rapid acting insulin only, BG testing is required to help identify rapid glycemic deterioration due to insulin infusion occlusion, infusion site problems, insulin stability issues, user error, or a combination of these. Pump therapy is not recommended for people who are unwilling or unable to maintain contact with their healthcare professional.
The safety of the 670G system has not been studied in people with impaired kidney function. Please let your healthcare professional know if you have kidney disease so you and your healthcare professional can determine if the potential benefits of using the system outweigh the risks. The safety of the 670G system has not been studied in pregnant women, people with type 2 diabetes, or in people using other anti-hyperglycemic therapies apart from insulin. Please let your healthcare professional know if any of these conditions apply to you so you and your healthcare professional can determine if the potential benefits of using the system outweigh the risks.
For complete safety information, please consult the appropriate User Guide.
*The CONTOUR®NEXT LINK 2.4 Meter is used with the MiniMed 630G system. The CONTOUR®NEXT LINK Meter is used with the MiniMed 530G system.
My daughter is enrolled in the program and her dr has already done the prescription and training for 670. I’m not sure if my email is in the Medtronic system. Can you please verify that my email is in the system. I would like to have the email and pay the $299 asap. Thank you. We cannot wait!
Thanks for reaching out Lisa. You should receive your email by end of the week. If you do not, please give us a call at 800-646-4633, option 5.
I would like to be kept informed about medicare and the guardian sensors. If and when it will be covered.
me too
Is the guardian sensor is covered by medicare and tricare
I am using the Medtronic 530G which is in warranty until July 12, 2017. At that time I will want to upgrade. May I get the 670G or must I get the 630G first? I would like to start planning NOW for the upgrade. Thank you!
Hi Carol-Anne, you will be able to upgrade directly to our MiniMed 670G system, however you’ll need to wait until we get through Priority Access before you can receive it.
I have a friend in China, who is using the Medtronic 530G. Is he eligible for upgrading to 670G in US since the 670G has not been in China market yet ? If yes, how? If no, can he buy the 670G by cash? Thanks.
Great questions, Xiong! We do not recommend purchasing products that are not yet approved in a specific country. Currently, purchase of the MiniMed 670G system requires a US prescription, shipping address and either insurance or payment issued from a US recognized financial institution. In addition, there may be additional concerns with getting ongoing supplies, specifically Guardian Sensor 3 sensors. I encourage your friend to wait until the MiniMed 670G system is approved for use in China.
I love that dark blue spiky pump case! Is that a Medtronic product?
Glad you like it Katie! It looks blue in the picture but it’s actually black. You can find these silicone cases for sale here: https://medtronicdiabetes.secure.force.com/store/cases-skins/630g-silicone-skins/630g-silicone-skin-black
Can we confirm whether or not the guardian 3 cgm will have a share app? We are SO excited about this pump but need to be able to monitor our daughter from the share app
Thanks!
Gaylyn, at this time the MiniMed Connect does not work with our MiniMed 670G system. We are working on this but don’t have a timeline to share.
Thank you for the update. As long as we have HOPE for one sometime in the near future
🙁 Had the same question, and sad at the answer. The connect was a long overdue catch-up to your rivals that totally changed the quality of life for parents of young T1Ds. It seems almost impossible that the team designing the 670g did not include cloud sharing from the outset. I kept hearing from reps and Medtronic people how they were focussed on a color screen! The screen won’t save my daughter at 3am or alert me ahead of the an emergency call from the school! I wish the priorities of your designers were a little better attuned.
This is completely unacceptable. I spoke with Medtronic multiple times regarding the priority access program. That is the sole reason I went with the 630. I was told over and over again that we would NOT be charged the $299, but rather have a debit on our account until the steps were completed. If the steps weren’t completed, then we’d be charged. I have email copies and screenshots of the posts discussing this as well.
I don’t have an extra $299 that, having dealt with Medtronic for the last 5 years, will take forever to be refunded. This is complete false advertisement. I’m now stuck with Medtronic for another 3 1/2 years. Let me assure you, I will be moving to another pump company as soon as my insurance allows.
Holly, I’m very sorry for this experience. We acknowledge the miscommunication on our end and are committed to doing better. In the meantime, I have shared your information with my team to ask that someone reach out and discuss this with you.
That happened to me too! If it was miscommunication on their part, then they need to go back to what they originally said. With this change, their reputation is shot with the people, at least with me!
Hi Joyce, we did make a clarification. Please read above for updates.
It will be one yr in Nov for me on the 630g. I do not have the contour peice I still would like to get the 670, and was told your could when it came out. How do I do this?
Lorraine, I believe you’re referring to the CONTOUR NEXT LINK 2.4 meter? If so, you should have received one with your MiniMed 630G system. But, I can also confirm that you will receive a new linking meter when you get the MiniMed 670G system.
I am newly on the 630G, and would REALLY like to see clips and holsters developed to make wearing it easier.
Thank you Joyce, we appreciate your feedback and will share it with our team.
Yes, please. We need a holster again.
The clip on the 630g is really a problem. I experience this every day and read many complaints. Is it any better in the 670g?
Lani, currently, the clip for the MiniMed 670G system is the same as that for the MiniMed 630G system. I have shared your feedback with my team though.
What about free don’t you understand? It’s not free now is it? When you pay for user impressions, your data have little value–watch what we will have to say about the product under duress. We were told free and that we’d receive the 670 during spring 2017 which was important to me because of an upcoming insurance change. We worry about the integrity of Medtronic and their products.
Jennifer, we really apologize for the confusion around the need to pay the $299 upfront to process your order. Due to the way our systems and processes are currently set up for this program, we realized the need to charge the payment upfront. We will verify benefits under your new insurance and be in touch once you’ve placed your order for the MiniMed 670G system.
I was also told multiple times that i would be upgraded FOR FREE!!! I also don’t have $300 to get the upgrade and am on the priority list! Still waiting for someone to call me back! First time working with Medtronic and am not sure what to think….trying to stay positive
Jen, I want to ensure the utmost clarity around this process and apologize for the confusion and inconvenience. Through our System Access program, you have the ability to reduce the amount you pay when you upgrade to the MiniMed 670G system to $0. When you sign up for this program, you are agreeing to complete these required activities and are granting us permission to use the information you share with us. $299 is the total value assigned to the activities we are asking you to complete and will be refunded or credited promptly upon completion of these activities and once you have returned your MiniMed 630G system. We can confirm two options for this $299 charge: an upfront credit card charge or a Medtronic account debit. Please read above for very important details about how these two options will work.
Am I correct that the 670G utilizes a different transmitter and sensors than the 630G? Also, does the 670 use the same reservoirs and infusion sets as the 630G? Thanx!
Hi Robert, you’re correct, the MiniMed 670G system uses the Guardian Link transmitter and Guardian Sensor 3. The insulin pump does use the same reservoirs and infusion sets at the MiniMed 630G system.
Do we get credit if we return our unused 630G supplies in exchange for the 670G supplies?
Hi Randy, your infusion sets and reservoirs will work with the MiniMed 670G system. In regard to Enlite sensors, we will take returns for any unopened boxes that were purchased within the past 30 days.
Ok,,,,how do I postpone the arrival of the 670 until I’m out of the 630 supplies. I’ve already changed over to receiving the 670 supplies but have MONTHS of 630 sensors which will never be used otherwise
Hi Randy, when you receive the call that your MiniMed 670G system is ready to ship out, please just let the team know when you’d like to receive it. Please note that we start shipments this week and anticipate that it’ll take us until the fall to get through all of our Priority Access members.
When do you expect it to be available to those of us without priority access?
Traci, we hope to have the MiniMed 670G system available to those outside of the Priority Access program in the fall.
How do we get information on the new system and how can we enroll into the priority access group??
Jessica, here is a blog on the MiniMed 670G system that has quite a bit of information: http://bit.ly/2iB0xra. If you received the MiniMed 630G system prior to May 2017, you should be in our Priority Access program.
When should we expect the e-mail regarding the priority access upgrade?
The majority of emails should go out by the end of the week.
Will the warranty I have on the 630 carry over to the new 670?
Jamie, the warranty on your MiniMed 630G system will carry over to the MiniMed 670G system.
I was encouraged to get the 630 and told I would automatically be enrolled in the upgrade. However, I have not gotten an email like so many have. What is the best way to follow up on this! I was led to believe it would just be done.
Kelly, the majority of our customers in the Priority Access program should receive their emails by end of the week. If you haven’t gotten it by Monday, please give us a call at 800-646-4633, option 5.
I got my 630 in November and was told I’d be part of the initial offering and haven’t received an email yet. Who should I contact
My sister did get an email and we go through the same distributor. She got her 630 in Feb. Only reason why I ask.
Lawrence, I would like to look into this for you. Please give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 5.
When will the 670G be available for outside the USA – I am in Australia using the 630G, love the sound of the 670G.

We have been Medtronic customers for over 12 years and my son is on his 3rd Medtronic pump. When Medtronic introduced the priority access plan with 0 copay for the 630 and then 670, I was excited because finally I could start pumping and could afford it with 0 copay (let’s face it, Nothing is free, Medtronic still gets paid very healthily by the insurers so they can afford this promo). Here it is two months later, I was told they would expedite so that the pump would be shipped prior to the arbitrary April 28th cut off date then I was advised that there was a problem with the third party shipper and I would have to pay $499 for the 670 when it was released but when I brought up that I submitted everything prior to the promo deadline, they indicated that they would honor the 0 copay promo. Finally, I got a call last week from Medtronic and she indicated that my insurance wouldn’t cover the 670 but that I was “approved” for the 630 at “only” $88 a month for 13 months copay. What happened to the 670 at 0 copay? At any rate, I called my insurance (Tricare) and talked to 3 different people and they all indicated that I was approved for a pump and they don’t differentiate between what pump I choose, that’s my choice and regardless, it’s covered. I went back to Medtronic with this info in a voicemail to my rep and over a week later have heard nothing. I’ve never gotten runaround and lies like this from Medtronic in our 12 years of working with them so all I want is truth and The straight scoop. I wanted to have my new pump in time for Friends for Life and be able to discuss it in the conference however now, All I can speak to is how I was lied to and got the unbelievable runaround…Bottom line is: Whether Medtronic underestimated customer response to their priority access promo or overestimated availability and release of the 670g, they need to eat the costs for their errors, honor their commitment and not lie to customers. The arbitrary 28 Apr ship date from Medtronic, otherwise the customer was no longer eligible for the promo?? Shipping by which Medtronic has control of?? That gave them a LOT of one sided flexibility on how they wanted to honor their own promotion. For customers like me who submitted all the required info and got all the required approval prior to the 28 Apr deadline and because Medtronic themselves were unable to execute shipment by 28 Apr, I’m no longer eligible for the promo without exception??? Really?? The delay in shipment was NOT my problem, it was Medtronic’s and their third party provider so therefore, customer service should be priority and respect for the customer should become first. No respectable company would EVER penalize a customer and make them ineligible for a promotion THEY initiated when it’s the fault of their own internal issues and delay in shipping a product however Medtronic has done that to me and I’m sure many other customers. There are too many options with competitors out there and while I’ve been a champion of Medtronic for 12 years, the debacle in the way they’ve attempted to release the 670 and the way they’ve been treating customers has been disgusting and beyond unacceptable. They need to make this right for all customers and if they don’t I’m going to every consumer advocate agency and share my experience…Customers are not idiots!!! We may be insulin deficient, NOT intellect deficient!!!!
Jeff, I’m sorry for your experience. I know that we’ve responded on Facebook and will look into this for you.
Your not the only one, something of this sort just happened to me yesterday, after recieving my 670g without the cgm, im not on the priority access program, i was told by a rep that it would be november before i would recieve the new guardian 3 transmitter, i called yesterday to get an update and i was met with a hostile attitude saying “we are sorry sir but it will be spring of next year (2018) before YOU get the cgm”, i assume by the way it was said, since im not a priority access customer, i have to wait longer. I have dealt with medtronic for 5 years now, i pay cash for everything i get from them, and to be treated this way, no thank you, pump is being sent back, time to try out someone else
I’m sorry you have had this experience, Aj. Due to high demand, we are working on shipping to our Priority Access customers first. If you have any other questions or need assistance, please send your information to dhelp@medtronic.com.
I am so confused about this so called Medtronics 13 month rental they have going. The reps say it is because the particular insurance company we have won’t cover the 670 G unless we do it as a rental. Yet the insurance company tells us basically the same as you are being told that we can get whatever pump we want and pay for it as 80/20%. They never heard of this rental deal. Jeff, did they tell you, the same about your 13 month deal?? I am so confused by what the sales reps tell me. Thanks for any info you can share. Much appreciation.
has anything been settled with Medicare?
Kathy, at this time there have been no changes with Medicare covering the Medtronic CGM. Medtronic will be pursuing new, non-adjunctive labeling for the Guardian Sensor 3. We believe this will enable reimbursement for Medicare patients who use Medtronic CGM. However, at this time we do not have a timeline to share of when this might happen.
Any updates on Gaurdian 3 sensor coverage for those people who either have Medicare or whose insurance policy follows the same durable medical equipment guidelines used by Medicare??
Debbie, at this time Medicare does not cover Medtronic CGM. After reviewing the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) decision on CGM coverage as well as how it applies to the MiniMed 670G system, Medtronic will be pursuing new, non-adjunctive labeling for the Guardian Sensor 3 that is consistent with that determination. We believe this will enable reimbursement for Medicare patients who use Medtronic CGM. However, at this time we do not have a timeline to share of when this might happen.
What does “signed up” for priority access program actually mean? I got my 630G last year and I expected I should be able to upgrade but was there also a “sign up ” that I need to do. I have been wondering about this all year.
Patrick, you should be included in our Priority Access program since you received the MiniMed 630G system. The majority of those in the program should receive their email by end of the week.
Whats the time frame for the 670G to be released in Europe?
Anders, that is a great question for your local team. Please reach out to them directly:

I am on Medicare and Medicare does not pay for sensors, so I am paying for them. Will Medicare pay for sensors for this new pump as I believe I should be on priority list. Thank you for ur reply.
Vicki, at this time Medicare is not paying for CGM on the MiniMed 670G system. After reviewing the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) decision on CGM coverage as well as how it applies to this new system, Medtronic will be pursuing new, non-adjunctive labeling for the Guardian Sensor 3 that is consistent with that determination. We believe this will enable reimbursement for Medicare patients who use Medtronic CGM. However, at this time we do not have a timeline to share of when this might happen.
I called quite awhile ago about this but am not sure if I am on the priority list. How can I find out?
Susan, in our to qualify for our Priority Access program, you needed to go on the MiniMed 630G system prior to April 28, 2017.
I was never told there will be a $299 charge to upgrade to the 670. I was told it would be exchanged out, and I would return the 630. I asked my Medtronic rep several times, and was always reassured that there would be NO charge. This was in mid April…….now in June…there is a $299 refundable deposit. Why would Medtronic have the reps telling people that the upgrade would be FREE, and now require a deposit. Changing your mind at the last minute and charging people not good business practice. Do what you say….keep your customers happy and loyal to your brand. As a new Medtronic customer, I am now wishing I went with another company based on this ‘shady’ decision.
Christina, we acknowledge the miscommunication on our end. Please know we are committed to doing better. Due to the way our systems and processes are currently set up for this program, we realized the need to charge the payment upfront. Thank you very much for your patience as we learn, refine our processes and work to ensure you have a positive experience.
None of which will get me the 670 with $0 copay…..I would not have selected this meter had i known i would have to pay to upgrade. I dont care that it is a refundable deposit. I dont have $300 laying around to pay for this. Plus the supplies and the monthly payment on my current pump. It was YOUR miscommunication…you fix it.
Christina – I have shared your information with my team and asked that they give you a call.
And as I suspected….no rush to make this right
Christina, I apologize that we haven’t had a chance to call you. Please read the above blog as we’ve posted an important clarification.
You guys realizing you made a mistake DOES NOT fix the problem that we all now have. I DO NOT have $300 lying around for Medtronic to play with while waiting for them to process the red tape involved with my upgrade. When I got the 530g, I recieved the exchange with no charge, so what’s different now?
Juliann, please see above for an important clarification. I apologize for the confusion and inconvenience.
My health insurance only works through 3rd party suppliers. Any idea when they will be getting 60Gs?
*670Gs
Hi Nevin, we anticipate the MiniMed 670G system being commercially available in the fall, including for our customers who get their products through a distributor.
I still have not received the email for the upgrade. I am in the priority access program. Are they still working on sending the emails or should I call to see if an error occurred?
Jordan, I confirmed you are a member of our Priority Access program. You should receive an email by the end of the week. If you do not, please let us know.
I too wonder if I am included in the priority access program. I upgraded to 630G in December 2016. My insurance is Medicare with a supplement plan. How does the 13 month “rental” requirement affect when I am eligible to get the 670. Also, I have only received one e-mail survey to complete, no other information regarding sharing or more surveys have been sent to me.
Kathleen, I apologize for the delay. Have you been able to place your order? In regard to Medicare, you will need to be out of the rental period for the MiniMed 630G insulin pump before you can Pathway to the MiniMed 670G system. If you have additional questions on this, please let us know and we can connect you with a teammate.
I am currently in warranty until July 25 2017 I would like to go on the 670G right out of warrenty on the current pump is there anything I can get started on or what do I have to do to insure I get it fast cause my doctor already approved it for me. And I’m super exited about it just like everyone else!
Noelle, glad to hear you’re excited! We are too. Once you’re out of warranty, please give us a call and we can start the process. Then once we’re through the Priority Access list we can work on getting you the system.
1) I too am very frustrated with the charge to trade in the 630G for the 670G. I was told there would be NO CHARGE. 2) Not only that, I was told we would be able to trade in up to 2 unopened boxes of sensors and now I read that Medtronic will only trade sensors purchased within the last 30 days? Why the change? We are going to be stuck with 2.5 months of sensors because we purchased them in April. That is a lot of money’s worth of sensors. I never would have purchased 3 months of sensors (it wasn’t even my choice) if I had known this. 3) WHAT are these “activities” that must be completed within 120 days to receive a refund of the $299? I have heard rumors of questionnaires? What else?
Shirley, I apologize if the contents of this trade-in were not clear or communicated appropriately. While we acknowledge the miscommunication on the upfront payment of $299, the surveys were always a part of the trade-in. Regulations for medical device companies require there to be a fair “exchange of value” – essentially, this means we can’t just give the pump away for $0. To bring the cost down to $0, we ask that you return your MiniMed 630G pump and transmitter as well as participate in activities such as taking surveys and sharing your experiences with us. In regard to the exchange of sensors, if you still have any unopened boxes at the time your new system is ready to ship, please let us know and we will see what we can do.
Thank you for your response. I would not expect anyone to give away a pump for free. The ONLY reason we purchased the 630 was to trade it in for the 670. It will have been used for a little over a month. We were not told about the surveys. Thank you for honoring the trade-in of CGM sensors for the new guardian sensors. Thank you for developing a looping pump and CGM.
Shirley, please see our above updated blog for an important clarification.
I, like many, am so looking forward to getting my 670g. I am in the Priority Access program and have received my initial email and responded accordingly.
One thing I TOTALLY appreciate is a safe, controlled rollout of the system. If MDT has to spend extra time to ensure safe products and at the same time having availability of resources, I am QUITE alright waiting.
Very VERY excited. Looking forward to using my 670g!!!
I received my email on the 6th. I confirmed my order. Do you know how long it will take to ship out my new pump. My dr already faxed my new perception as well.
Yolanda, we can’t comment on individual orders but we will start shipping the system next week and continue through the summer. If we have your prescription on file, you’re definitely a step closer. We will contact you as soon as your order is ready for shipping.
I have been a Medtronic customers for 33 years. I was told several times from your rep that there would be no charge unless I didn’t return the 630 or did not do the survey feedbacks on the 670. I was also told that I would not need any additional insurance approval when the upgrade was ready in June. And yes I was told it would be June when I would receive not the possibility of it going into fall. I ask plenty of questions because I did not want to take a chance for whatever reason my insurance company would not approve the upgrade. If there was even a chance I was going to just wait and get the 670 when available. Your rep went to a supervisor or someone that was more knowledgeable to make sure he was giving correct answers. Each time he would give me his answer but then double check and call me back. This was a process of several conversations. Medtronic NEEDS to make this right for me I don’t have 299 and was told I would not be paying anything. 2. I want to receive the 670 right away as I was told. 3. There had better not be any way that my insurance company denies anything as far as the upgrade & supplies go. I was very thorough in my questions and trusted your rep and the person that was advising him.
Bonnie, I apologize for the confusion and inconvenience. Please see our updated blog for very important details. In regard to your insurance, we do need to make sure that your supplies for the MiniMed 670G system are covered. I apologize that this wasn’t communicated appropriately, but hopefully we can get you taken care of quickly and you can have trust with us again.
I have not received an email yet and am in the priority access program. What should I do?
Jasmine, please give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 5 and we can look into this for you.
How long will it take to receive the 299 back? I returned the Revel to get credit on my account for the 360. I called to ask, and Ruben told me it would take 4-6 weeks. Today I got a phone call telling me she wanted the 500 right now! I sure don’t have that kind of money laying around. Medtronic is not the same as it was when I started pumping. It seems like all they want is my money!
Joyce, I apologize for the confusion and inconvenience. Please read above for an important clarification.
I’m sorry, but I have a really hard time believing you or your reps. I was told by my rep. that he was going to overnight me one of the bands because I wanted to test it out. That was 2 weeks ago. Today, I get a call from his boss, asking me if I could meet her tomorrow, 3 hours away from me. I told her no, so she asked me if I still wanted her to send it! I am SEVERELY angry at Medtronic, and please don’t say you’re sorry, because it’s getting old, REALLY fast!
Joyce, I have shared this with my team and ask that they reach out to you.
I went on the 630G in November 2016 so I assume that I am on the priority list. When can I expect the email that you said would be sent out? I want to make sure I don’t miss it as I get lots of emails per day due to my job. Thanks. Looking forward to the new 670G
Hi Jolie – if you’d like to check your status, please give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 3.
Have not received email yet, is it too soon to call or are emails still being sent out??
Sharayah, the majority of our customers should receive an email this week. If you haven’t received one by Friday, please give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 3.
My 530 pump is out of warranty. I called Medtronic to upgrade to the 670 model. Medtronic has already contacted my insurance and confirmed that I would have no copay. I was told they would ship in the spring. How can I check on the status of my upgrade? I don’t see anything on my account information or order history. Do I call or would they have any way of checking on status?
Hi Shaun, we’d be happy to look into this for you. You can give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 3. However, please note that it’s important for us to keep our commitment to those in our Priority Access program first. We anticipate shipping out the MiniMed 670G system in the fall, to those who are not in the program.
I was told yesterday that only supplies received within the last 30 days can be exchanged. I receive 3 months at a time. I’ve received an OK to return these and get an exchange BUT I have a Lot more 630 CGM supplies that will be wasted because if this. How may I postpone the arrival of the 670 until I’ve used these supplies. Because of the Return requirement I just can’t wait until I run out to start using the 670.
I have not received an email. How do i know you have my email address
Naomi, I did confirm you are part of our Priority Access program. I’m sorry you haven’t heard from us. Please feel free to call us at 800.646.4633, option 3, to discuss placing your order.
I was informed yesterday, 6/13/17, that patients not on the priority access list won’t receive the 670G until January 2018, at the earliest. I was told the pumps could technically be sent, but due to Medtronic not manufacturing enough transmitters and sensors, the pump would be non-funtional in auto mode.
Hi Becky, we anticipate having the CGM portion of the pump ready in the fall, after we get through Priority Access. It’s important that we keep our promise to those in Priority Access about receiving the system first. However, you are correct, without the CGM you will not be able to use Auto Mode.
Hello, does this mean that the Priority Access group will wait until fall for the CGM? Or do you mean that Priority Access will receive pump and CGM by fall? Thank you
Shirley, our Priority Access members should receive their pump and CGM by the fall. We will ship supplies out to those in Priority Access first and then start to ship out the CGM to those not in Priority Access. I hope that helps?
Almost: I am curious if Priority Access participants will receive the pump and CGM at the same time, or will there be a delay in CGM delivery (and thus, inability to use the looping feature).
Shirley, to reduce the potential of increased out of pocket costs, we are aligning the shipment of your MiniMed 670G system to your sensor reorder date. This will ensure ongoing coverage of your sensors. These two orders however, will likely ship separately.
Karrie, this new news (from July 11), is not acceptable. My wife just received a 3 month supply of sensors for her 630G (which, BTW, has several issues with new sensors taking up to 4 hours to register and with the pump randomly requiring rewinds – very frustrating but bearable when we thought we’d have the 670 shortly). When she ordered the sensors, she was assured these could be traded in for the Guardian 3’s once her 670G shipped. Now you are saying that by ordering these sensors, she has delayed her ship date by three months for something we paid dearly for to get early access! That was certainly misinformation at best, something that has plagued this whole process. What happened to the idea of trading in the old sensors for the new (we paid for the 630G, I have no problem paying an upgrade fee for a few sensors). But for this misinformation, she could have ordered a single month of supplies and gotten the 670G quicker. She is brittle, particularly at night, and we are hoping this new technology will really help at night, and it gets delayed and delayed. I understand a roll out of a new product takes time, but in this case, it was your own misinformation that has caused this new further delay in the shipment. We took some risks and laid a lot of money out of pocket to be early adopters. And now I find that she will be receiving her pump just as it becomes generally available to the public. That is hardly fair.
John, I do apologize for any confusion around Priority Access. I have asked that my team give you a call to discuss this.
Hi Karrie, wonderful news!! We have received both our 670 pump and our Guardian 3 sensors. Thank you so much for all your hard work.
Great to hear, Shirley!
I do not believe you. You do not follow your promises. You told us we are going to have it end of the April. Now you are telling us we can not get before end of august. Every day new lies. Thank you medtronic. Last two weeks i learned. You do not care any of us. You are caring your business and we are just your customer.
I’m sorry you feel that way, Erol. To ensure everyone has the best experience possible while transitioning to their MiniMed 670G system, we conducted an initial phase where select customers gave us feedback. This feedback was used to adjust protocols for trainings to ensure you have the best experience possible. Now that we’re done with that phase, we are starting to ship out the system to those in our Priority Access program. We anticipate this will take us through the fall and then we will make the system commercially available to all.
Erol, I agree with you!
Hello I ma also in the priority access program and was told I would be one of the first to receive the notification … yet I have heard nothing from Medtronic and have not received an email. Can you please confirm when we should have received the emails?
Hi Carrie, we are sending out these emails in waves and you should receive one soon. If you’d like immediate assistance, please call us at 800.646.4633, option 3.
I received the email but it says you have to place the order for the 670g by June 28 but your website says *July* 28. Please advise.
Lani, my team has emailed you in regard to this. I do apologize for the confusion.
Curious, I see that as part of the priority access program fulfillment, you are contacting insurance companies to see if they will provide ongoing supplies. Have you had issues with companies who already cover the Enlite sensors NOT covering the Guardian Sensor 3? In particular United Health Care/Oxford? My wife did get the email, and has confirmed her purchase of the 670G, and her doctor has sent the prescription. So the insurance would seem the biggest impediment. Thanks!
John, please know that we are actively working with both large and small insurance companies across the nation to help ensure access for the many people with type 1 diabetes who can benefit from the therapy. We expect Priority Access system shipments to continue through the Fall. As part of Priority Access, you are in the first group of people in the world to transition to this revolutionary technology. Your precise shipping date depends upon insurance coverage for supplies, a prescription on file and product availability. As soon as your wife’s order is ready to ship we will contact her.
Why is the 670 pump not shipped complete with the new sensors? Has customer service been improved? I was on the phone for over 30 minutes and 2 blind transfers to remedy my issue and get an order for new sensors. It was not possible at the online store because you still have the wrong pump in the system (Paradigm which was 2 pumps ago).
I have also been waiting to get into contact with my Medtronic rep who has been leaving me messages that are impossible to understand. (Here’s a little customer service tip, spit out your gum before making the call, speak clearly and leave your name and number twice)
Chris, I’m sorry to hear about your experience. I have asked that a teammate give you a call to discuss this and make sure you receive a call in regard to training.
Karrie, I purchased my 630G in February-March, is there a way to find out where I am in the process?
Amanda, we expect Priority Access system shipments to continue through the Fall. As part of Priority Access, you are in the first group of people in the world to transition to this revolutionary technology. Your precise shipping date depends upon insurance coverage for supplies, a prescription on file and product availability.
Karrie, thanks for the reply. Is there a way to get a prescription (get the process started)? Or do I need to wait until I get the email? I don’t believe I have a prescription, etc since I just got my 630G in March.
Amanda, we have reached out to you via email to see how we can further help you. Please check your email account.
Which Glucose meter will be used with the 670. With the sensor frequency change I imagine the Meter frequency has changed also.
Randy, the CONTOUR NEXT LINK 2.4 meter was approved as the exclusive meter as part of the MiniMed 670G system. This is also the same meter that was approved as part of the MiniMed 630G system.
Hello and be warned, Medicare has NOT approved the 670g for payment as of yet.
Do not be tricked by Medtronic into believing you will get one soon if you place your order like I did.
Buyer be ware if Medicare is your Primary Insurer.
If your on Medi
I have finally been approved for a cgm . I have very high blood sugars. My doctor and insurance company said it is medically necessary for me to have this cgm because of my readings. I am told I have to wait till November. That is unacceptable. I have spoke to the sales representative as well as you. My readings are over 300 with migraines etc.. I am told the only way to get this is theough the emergence room???? Really????i don’t understand why people are upgrading and I have a medical note. These people who are upgrading all ready have a pump. Hello, this is terrible customer service.
Deanna, I do apologize, but it’s important that we keep our word to those who are in our Priority Access program. Once we have them taken care of, we will start to ship out the CGM portion of the MiniMed 670G system.
Any updates on Medicare coverage of the 670G CGM system? Have customers with any type of Medicare coverage been approved: Medicare Advantage, Tricare, Retirees with Medicare through government or private employers, etc? Is anything happening with the FDA or CMS to get approval for CGM dosing and/or Medicare reimbursement.
Jerry, after reviewing the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) decision on CGM coverage as well as how it applies to the MiniMed 670G system, Medtronic will be pursuing new, non-adjunctive labeling for the Guardian Sensor 3 that is consistent with that determination. We believe this will enable reimbursement for Medicare patients who use Medtronic CGM. However, at this time we do not have a timeline to share of when this might happen.
Here is what I got when I tried to access your Comment Policy:
“We’re Sorry…
We couldn’t find a page at that address.”
Why is your Comment Policy a secret?
Jerry, here is the link to our comment policy for the blog: https://www.medtronicdiabetes.com/loop-blog/policies/.
I read in the response to someone’s comment above that a Contour Next Link glucose monitor would come with the 670G when shipped under the Priority Access program. My 670G arrived today, but there was no Contour Next Link meter in the box. Am I missing something?
Roger, sorry for the miscommunication. If you received your new meter with your MiniMed 630G purchase then you will not receive another one through the upgrade process. If you’d like to discuss this further, please let me know and I can connect you with my team.
Roger, I’ve found that if you call Bayer/Contour they will send you another one if you phrase your request correctly (I lost it). They make their money on the test strips, not on the meter.
The Medtronic Diabetes Store shows a list price for 50 Contour Next Test strips of $52 or $1.04 each. Is this price about to be increased or will it be maintained?
Jerry, thanks for reaching out. The current list price is accurate. However, we can’t comment on potential future increases.
Thank you, Karrie. Please keep us informed about any future price increases that have an impact on any of the components of the 670G system. I have also heard from Ascensia Diabetes Care explaining the price action on Contour Next BG test strips..
Question, from reading the “testimonies”, from current users of the 670 during the trial period, I’m hearing that there are tremendous differences in using the 670. No high settings over 170, ie 170 is the MAX setting you can set your pump range to. No basal or bolus adjustments. The CGM and the algorithyms determine everything. What if I don’t want to wear my sensor for a week or so. How is my pump going to allow me to adjust. Will it be as the 630 is or is it radically different.?
Ernest, if you choose not to wear a sensor you will still be able to use the MiniMed 670G insulin pump. You will be in manual mode and can make the necessary adjustments just as you do with your MiniMed 630G insulin pump. The main difference with this system is when utilizing the sensors and in Auto Mode, which automatically adjusts your basal insulin delivery. thanks Karrie, I’ve since gotten my pump and read the instructions. It’s all clear to me now. I still have several months of 630 sensors on hand and your team has been willing to pospone the 120day requirement on my sending back the 630 until I’ve used up my 630 sensors and actually started on the 670. It’s been over a month of conversations to get to that point.
I’m sorry for the delay, Ernest but glad that you’re all taken care of!
I have a couple of questions:
1. How long is it going to take for those NOT in the priority list to receive the 670G?
2. Will we be able to connect this pump with our phones/apple watch sometime in the next 4 years, or is the phone connectivity not going to be available at all for the 670G?
Hi Izzy, thanks so much for reaching out. We anticipate being through the Priority Access list sometime in the fall. We will make sure to update our community as soon as it’s available. And, while we’re working on connectivity benefits we don’t have a timeline to share at this time.
Hi Karrie, thank you so much for your quick response. I look forward to using the new 670G as I’ve only heard great things from my college friends who already have it 🙂
So glad to hear it, Izzy! Thank you!
I received my 670g. What happens next???
Hi Lisa – you will be contacted by a local trainer to set-up training on the pump. Please allow up to two weeks for the call. Congratulations!!
When you got your 670 did anyone else get a SINGLE sensor? I got a box which looked like the Monthlly supply but I noticed it said x1 instead of the X5 or X3……..Karrie can you confirm what was supposed to ship with the pump and sensor.
Hi Ernest, it’s my understanding that you received your Guardian Sensor 3’s on July 18th.
In error. I had requested an OCT 1st delivery. They have taken that into account so I can use up my supply of 630 sensors before I start using the 670. My question remains though, is a single sensor in a box the new packaging or can we expect to see the 3-5 per box. I believe the 670 sensor is rated for 10 days. I think we should be concerned about scar tissue forming at the insertion site since the sensor has not changed mechanically.
Ernest, our Guardian Sensor 3 should come with 5 sensors in a box. The sensor is approved by the FDA to be worn for 7 days.
Is there an update regarding the Anthem BCBS determination of the 670g as “investigational, and not a medical necessity in all conditions?” I currently use the 630g, and very much look to the 670g to improve control for both high & low challenges. I am currently on the Priority Access program, but waiting as Medtronic will not process my upgrade until a change in this policy. I have submitted requests to Anthem with documentation from my physician as well as a prescription. Please advise…
Joe, at this time there is not an update. From here, you do need to obtain an approval letter from Anthem. Once we have that we can ship you out the new system.
I received my new 670 several weeks back. Received the sensors just a week ago. Went to my training. Everything is working great. I packed up my old pump using the pre-paid envelope. Took it to the post office and was told at my local post office that I could not use the tracking. I am very uncomfortable sending the pump back without tracking. Can you please confirm the address that I should send the pump to? Can you confirm that only the pump is needed to be returned. This is my understanding according to the letter. Thanks
Dale, I’m sorry you had trouble at the Post Office. You will need to return your MiniMed 630G pump, CGM transmitter and charger. All of these items can be shipped to Medtronic, 18000 Devonshire St, Northridge, CA 91325.
How does Auto mode deal with a schedule that changed hour to hour day to day. Some weeks I spend 4hrs driving then 2hrs of intense mental and physical activity. Then two days of sitting then 2hrs driving and 10hrs of physical activity. Always eating fast food and staying in hotels
Great question, Randy. Auto Mode automatically adjusts insulin delivery every 5 minutes based on sensor glucose values and current trends to work towards a goal of 120 mg/dL. We know that no 2 days are the same, even for the same person, which is why automated basal delivery having the ability to adjust to your life is so valuable and can better meet these changing needs. You also have the option of setting a Temp Target of 150 mg/dL for up to 12 hours at a time (which you may choose to set for more intense physical activity, illness or other situations.)
If my son does not currently have a pump at all (he uses the pens- he’s only been diagnosed for 10 months) , he has Humana insurance, but they tell me that it’s not covered… what is the price for a 670 G for someone to buy outright?
Thank you.
Kari, this is a great conversation to have with one of our device specialists. I will ask that someone give you a call. In the meantime, if you’d like, you can also call us at 800.646.4633, option 3.
Just received the 670G pump and transmitter through the priority access program but am unclear how exactly I’m supposed to obtain the corresponding sensors or whether my insurer will cover them. I was under the impression (wrongly) that this system was compatible with the enlite sensors I’ve been using with a 630G. My insurer doesn’t do business directly with Medtronic, instead relying on a 3rd party medical supply company that contracts with them to provide pump and CGM supplies. In theory this pump was supposed to be shipped after Medtronic confirmed my insurance would cover the supplies, but it seems to me that with Medtronic exclusively selling the new sensors and with my insurer not directly working with Medtronic, there’s no way they’ll cover the new sensors (unless their policies have changed dramatically and gone unannounced). Which leaves me wondering what the idea is here. Did anyone actually check with my insurer? Did some wires get crossed? Or is the assumption that I’m paying out of pocket for the sensors? Because that’d be news to me, and if that were the case, I’d want to ship back the new system, get a refund on the Priority Access fee and stick with my 630G. Please advise…
Sebastian, sorry to hear about your experience. I will have someone from my team to help clarify next steps for you.
Hi Karrie,
It’s been two weeks now and I’ve yet to hear from anyone at Medtronic about this. I know the rollout hasn’t been the smoothest, but I was expecting better given how good your customer service has been in the past.
Sebastian, I’m sorry for the wait. Hold times have been a bit longer than usual lately, but we’re working on it. If you still need assistance, please send your contact information to dhelp@medtronic.com.
I did not receive an envelope to mail my 630g pump back. What can I do, other than call the help line?
Hi Becky, please send my team an email to dhelp@medtronic.com. They should be able to get you what you need.
My 670g was supposed to ship tomorrow, but I received an email yesterday indicating the pump and transmitter should ship within the next 4-8 weeks and the new Sensors will ship at a later time. What in the world-that makes no sense. I am in the priority access plan and expected better of Medtronic.
Carol, due to a significant increase in global demand for glucose sensors, we are temporarily experiencing limited availability of this product. We deeply apologize for this situation and understand the importance our technologies have in the management of diabetes. We are working to address this temporary inventory shortage as quickly as possible and will keep you updated as product becomes available.
I received my 630 pump from the VA, along with 8 other vets, in
March. All of our supplies come to us from the VA. I received something about a Sept date to receive the 670 pump. Is there anyway to find out where we stand in the line?
Thomas, to find out more about where you stand in line please call our Supply Order Team at 1-800-646-4633 then chose option 2.
Louis,
I called and got no information about when my cgm supplies will ship to me.
The automated prompt gave me no information.
While it is nice to have the pump, it would be much nicer to have the entire closed loop system that I ordered.
George, I relayed your message to my team and understand you got the help you needed. If you need anything else, please email dhelp@medtronic.com.
I have been a loyal medtronic customer for 17 years. I was thrilled to hear about the closed loop system and priority access which I signed up for. Due to my pregnancy I was instructed to hold off getting the 670g until my daughter was born and they would contact me again mid-August. It is now September and I have not heard from anyone. I have called twice and left messages and also have not received a return call. I understand that the new system AND the priority access was more popluar then expected but if the delay was going to be so long why wqs i instructed bybtwo different people to postpone shipment and have not received a return call?
Thank you for being a loyal customer, Rebecca. The MiniMed 670G system is not approved for use during pregnancy, which is why it was advised to wait. I will have your device specialist reach out to provide you an update. Congratulations on your newest addition!
Dear Mr. Dias,
I am checking on the status of the sensors. My husband says they are back-ordered. I was wondering if there was any update on availability.
Thank you,
Sa-Tina Emery
We’d be happy to look into this for you, Sa-Tina. Please email us at dhelp@medtronic.com and a teammate will reach out.
This is a big concern for me. I’ve tried to get a response to the where are my sensors since August. In July I was told I would have them Mid-August. I get your team is frustrated due to back log, but I had left many messages regarding this issue and was placed on hold several times for very long periods of time. Today I finally got someone to speak to me and now I’m being told that I may have to wait until the end of the year. I have a very high deductible which is now at 20% so I would prefer to fill what I can now than pay 100% out of pocket come Jan 1. I am very frustrated with this process. The communication has really been horrible and don’t get me wrong…I love my new 670g, but I really can’t believe you all didn’t have this process laid out in the beginning before you started to roll it out. How do I get the sensors before my Dr. Apt next month so I can be up and running…literally. I am still having some adjustment issues when I am active and the sensors and auto adjustments/suspend is what I was really looking forward to so I don’t have to correct so much w/ calories…defeats the purpose of exercise to lose weight.
I can certainly understand your concern, Rainelle. Due to a significant increase in global demand for glucose sensors, we are temporarily experiencing limited availability. We are prioritizing sensors for our Priority Access customers before expanding availability to all other patients, as we made this commitment to them when they enrolled. We deeply apologize for this situation and understand the importance our technologies have in the management of diabetes. We are working to address this temporary inventory shortage as quickly as possible and will keep you updated as product becomes available.
That’s interesting, they sent me the sensors but no transmitter, someone needs to step in and take control of this runaway train, we all know Medtronic didn’t expect the FDA to approve that fast, but man, this is pure chaos, is the system ready or not?
I have been a Medtronic customers for last 3 years. I have enrolled for priority access program and submitted my request before april/may deadline , I was told by rep that there would be no charge and i should have the pump delivered by july/august 2017, i have followed up with medtronic multiple times some rep suggested it might be delayed , last month i called up they said let me place you order and get it expedited and will have your rep call you for update.
Till date i have not heard any response , i am not sure what is going on and no one can answer this correctly and medtronic does not have any online portal to track this
I’m sorry we haven’t connected, Bhushan. I will have your device specialist reach out with an update on your order.
I am checking on the status of my sensors?
Any updates?
Thanks in advance,
George, we are currently completing our Priority Access orders. We anticipate these orders to be finished this winter and then we can begin shipping new transmitters. I have asked that your device specialist reach out to go over any questions you may have.
Hello,
Can anyone confirm when the sensors for the 670g will ship? My son received the pump & meter 3 to 4 weeks ago, we were told the sensors would follow in a couple of weeks.
Yesterday we called to check the status on the sensors and were given a January ship date, maybe? From other comments above it looks like some people are being told Spring of next year?
We would just like some clarification.
Thanks
David, at this time we are fulfilling our commitments to our Priority Access members. We anticipate that we will begin shipping new transmitters with sensors later this winter.
What company does your insurance use to fulfill your supplies. My distributor has had no problems supplying me.
Something doesn’t add up for me, I keep hearing priority access Customer come first, I’m NOT a priority access Customer yet I have a 3 month supply of sensors I received 2 weeks ago along with the WRONG transmitter , so it’s basically useless to me, I have called countless times to try and get the right transmitter but here it is 2 weeks later and still no response, from what I gather from reading these post, Medtronic is putting off the mass release of this expensive equipment so they don’t upset the insurance companies, that’s just what it looks like , probably not the case right…
AJ, I’m sorry for any inconvenience. I was able to locate your account and understand your orders are not shipped directly from Medtronic. I recommend reaching out to your distributor for any questions regarding your supplies. If you need help locating this information, email us at dhelp@medtronic.com and a teammate will reach out to help.
Who does your insurance work with for your sensors and test strips? Medtronic farms this job out to them. I know my distributor has had no shortage of sensors.
I’m a newer T1 and was recommended switching from multiple daily injections to an insulin pump. Did my research and was tied between the 670G and a tandem x2. I made my decision and low and behold, my choice (my voice) was taken from me because your company got in bed with United Health Care. So I’m forced, due to your companies attempts to corner a Life altering product to get a product that is on BACK ORDER. I know what your thinking, “what’s an amputated toe or a minor stroke? We’re racking in the money!” If your company honestly and sincerely thought of clients benefit, you wouldn’t of stolen my choice and in turn delay my care, putting my life, my limbs and my mind in danger. Please I beg you, change your deal with United Health Care.
James, I am very sorry to hear this and please know, we understand that our supply challenges can be frustrating. I am sorry we are not meeting your expectations. If you have any questions regarding your options for pump therapy, I do recommend reaching out to your healthcare plan directly. They can provide you the best information for your individual situation.
Sorry, but maybe you misunderstood me. My healthcare plan and your company went behind insurers backs, made a deal making your company a “preferred DME” and made it so that I have to get your pump or pay out of pocket. Sir, I have spoken with my healthcare plan. I now apparently speaking into a void. Sorry to waste everyone’s time.
What is the update for regular customers?
Abby, orders for the MiniMed 670G system can be placed now. We will fulfill the pump portion of the order now and ship the CGM portion in early 2018.
Why is it “Early 2018” before I can get a transmitter?
Aj, due to a marked increase in global demand, we’re temporarily experiencing limited availability. We’re currently fulfilling our promise to our Priority Access members and we’re prioritizing their orders. We appreciate your patience and will keep you updated.
I called today to find out where my rebate for the new 670g was, being I got the pump over a month ago, sent my old one in over a month ago, no call, no letter, no nothing about my money, so I called today, and was told someone would call me back. So now, not only am I held hostage, my money is being held hostage also, they wouldn’t even tell me if they have received the old pump, this is starting to affect my finances now
I’m sorry for any confusion, Aj. I understand your MiniMed 670G pump was shipped by one of our distributors. Please continue to work with them directly on the status of your credit, as they will have the best information available.
I got a 630g in the fall. They told me I would be upgraded in spring. I heard there were delays so I have been patiently waiting. Now my 630g is broken, and they say I didn’t order my 670g. I was never ever told to order, just I would hear from them. I didn’t get a call or email. With the 630g’s ability to turn itself off for lows, I was able to get a job for the first time in 8 years. They just want to send me a 530g. The 530g is not the same. I won’t be able to work. I was promised a 670g. I have gastroparesis. My stomache doesn’t digest food well. Taking insulin is a guessing game. I have called and called Pathways on my break but am just on hold forever and have to go. My bloodsugars are all over using Lantis. I get lows sometimes at night and nothing to wake me up with alarms or turn off insulin. The 530g didn’t ever wake me and didn’t turn off so I haven’t been able to work. I am going to get fired. This is soooo unacceptable!!!!
Miranda, I am very sorry for any confusion. I was able to locate your account and I am having our device specialists look into this and see if there is anything we can do to help. A teammate will be in touch.
I have received the am a TWICE that my pump will ship in 2 weeks……called after first time….give it another 2 weeks…called again….wait two more weeks.
Send me the email when the thing is shipping. Don’t keep having me sit and wait for the thing.
Can someone tell me when my priority access 670 is shipping???
Christina, I am so sorry. I don’t have an exact shipping date for your Priority Access order. You can check your status by calling 800.646.4633, ext. 21912. They would be happy to look into this for you.
Wow, now your resorting to finger pointing Karen, I’m sorry but your the manufacturer, Or at least you represent the manufacturer, it’s called a manufacturer rebate, and you can’t tell me where it’s at, or even if you’ve received the old pump, only refer me back to the distributor. I understand it must be frustrating dealing with these problems everyday, but you can’t resort to passing the blame to the distributor, last time I checked with my distributor they were waiting on the manufacturer (That’s you) to issue the rebate. Now if you truly care to resolve this issue, please have someone from your team call me and simply explain to me where it’s at, and please , if I don’t answer , please leave a message. It’s obvious to me now that you care about the customers, so please send me an email or better yet a voicemail, thanks in advance.
Aj, we have been able to confirm with the distributor that they have received your trade in credit pump and they have started their process to request the trade in credit. This process, per your distributor, can take 3-6 months to reflect on your account. Please continue to check with your distributor for updates.
Medtronic staff,
It appears that all 630g and 670g insulin pumps are on BACKORDER. I feel that it is borderline FRAUD to continue to sell CMG transmitters and CGM sensors to patients like myself. My insurance and myself have paid your company thousands of dollars and they all gather dust on my shelf as I await my promise insulin pump. I’ve been on your waiting list for 6 to 8 weeks and I’m still waiting for my insulin pump. Since my old 530g insulin pump transmitter broke I was forced to upgrade insulin pumps and transmitters since the 530g transmitters are ALSO on BACKORDER!!! I’m so frustrated that with your company’s inability to produce promised goods and services.
KG, we deeply apologize for this situation and understand the importance our technologies have in the management of diabetes. We’re working to address this temporary inventory shortage as quickly as possible.
Temporary outages shouldn’t last more than 8 weeks. I’m also frustrated by your companies inability to tell me where I am on the wait list and your inability to give me an estimation on how much longer I’ll have to wait.
Side note: I received a phone call from your billing department today and they wanted to get paid for my unusable sensors/transmitter. Why would I pay for something that is worthless to me at this point? I told your billing department that if they furnish a usable insulin pump I’d pay in full over the phone. I can’t imagine your billing department actually expects payment for partial deliveries (You sold me a figurative car without ties)?? Seems to me you have potential legal trouble in your future (Grated you have deep pockets to pay lawyers).
Speaking of backorder what’s the updates on 630 insulin pumps, 670 insulin pumps and 670 CGM transmitters?
William, we’re working to address this temporary inventory shortage as quickly as possible and will keep you updated as product becomes available.
Louis,
Can we please have a ball park estimate on how long it takes for back ordered items to become available? Are we talking weeks (probably not since I’ve waited 7 weeks myself), months, years? Your non-descriptive time frames just make matters more frustrating. Be honest and transparent with your customers. Hiding details about wait-list status or number also is a frustration…
Hello,
Thank you for all the information! I wanted to know if this is only in the US and if there are any plans to extend it internationally? I’m from Egypt and currently living in the UAE so is there an expected timeline on when this might reach either markets if it hasn’t already?
Also another question, what kind of supplies are needed for the device as I’ll need to look up if they are available in my region.
Thanks,
It is our intention to make the MiniMed 670G system available outside the US, but we do not have a time frame at this time. We recommend continuing to work with your local team for updates.
I am in the priority access program.
My doctor’s office has attempted unsuccessfully to find out why I have yet to be notified by Medtronic regarding when I will be getting the new 670G system.
I was eligible back when the system was to be released in the Spring of 2017.
It is now October 2017.
Can you help with updated information?
Todd, I am sorry for any delay and I would like to see if we can help. I’ve located your account and will have a device specialist give you a call and see what we can do to help.
The only thing I’m hearing from both sides is yelling and everybody running screaming from the building. A little perspective if I may……..I work for a company that sells and installs the equipment that is used to manufacture all of these devices. I’m the field service tech that sets these up and supports the manufacturer. I’ve been involved with BD, Novo Nordisc and many others. Getting these to the point where they are approved by the FDA is a multi year process. As we all know the FDA fast-tracked and approved this system 6months ahead of schedule. Getting manufacturing to jump forward is NOT possible. The Molds to make these alone can take 6months to fabricate. Testing and verifying the process up to a FDA standards can take up to a year because each and every piece of equipment MUST be verified. SO yes they started shipping what they could, shipping sensors, etc. etc etc. who has had a sensor fail? Have they replaced them? Yes. I’ve had two fail but I understand the complexity of fabrication. Do I TRUST that Medtronic is reliable and responsible? YES. So let’s realize we’re on the cusp of a NEW AND GROUNDBREAKING technology. OK. We have dealt with this disease We can deal with this.
I just noticed something interesting. The flip top on the Contour Next test strips is the Exact right size to take off the battery cover to change it…….NEAT
I have used 530G for many years now. I had stopped using the sensors (and have used the insulin pump for simply delivering insulin rather than maintaining sugar levels using the device due to the high cost of the pump supplies – most of which are not covered by my insurance, or perhaps the insurance coverage was so low that it did not even matter). However, my diabetes has worsened significantly lately, and I am wondering if there is a way for patients like myself to receive pump supplies on a discounted rate. Also, if I upgrade to 670G, is the cost of pump supplies going to be even higher than what I have experienced in the past? Please help. Thanks.
Anuj, I’m very sorry to hear this. We do offer financial assistance for those who qualify and we’d be happy to look into your options. As far as the MiniMed 670G system, the insulin pump supplies remain the same, however, it does use our newest Guardian Sensor 3. Your insurance coverage will determine your out of pocket cost for both the system and the supplies. To speak to a teammate regarding financial assistance for your supplies, please give us a call at 800.646.4633, ext 21137. For information on upgrading to the MiniMed 670G system, our device specialists can be reached at 800.646.4633, option 5.
Any manufacturing updates on your Puerto Rico plant? I’m still waiting on my 630g insulin pump since July…
KG, We have worked around the clock to repair our manufacturing facility to restore full operations. Our facility is returning to full production and our teams are hard to produce new products as quickly as possible. We know that the delays have been frustrating. Thank you for your continued patience.
My younger brother will be getting his 670G very soon and my family is tremendously excited to have him on a pump. One question we have that I have yet to find a definite answer to is about connecting the pump to a phone.
It’s already mentioned earlier that the current MiniMed Connect app is not compatible with the 670G because of RF incompatibility. On top of that, later versions of Android weren’t even supported despite it being released for years now and being very prevalent among users today.
What is the current plan for being able to connect it to a phone? Are we looking at a possibly new receiver for RF to Bluetooth for connectivity, if any at all? And are we going to see the distasteful act of releasing this app only for iOS or only for Android and not the two of them simultaneously?
Thank you for reaching out, Ruben. It’s great news that your brother is going to be upgrading to the MiniMed 670G system! Unfortunately, due to FDA guidelines, I cannot discuss future products before they are released. Please know we understand how important these features are to our customers and have an incredibly dedicated team working on what’s next. We will be sure to let our community know as these features become available.
Karrie,
I don’t know what you did exactly, but I got my email today daying my 670g is shipping at the end of November!!!! Merry Christmas to me!!! Thank You, Thank YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
I HAVE NOT CALLED SINCE you said they were looking into it. I am so delighted that I no longer need to sit on hold forever!! I am so impressed and thankfull that you did what you said!!!

♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Miranda Sparkman
Miranda, that is great to hear! We’re so glad we were able to assist you and if you need anything else, please reach out to us.
Wow!! My email said it would ship at the end of November but it arrived Today!!! So EXCITED!!
Anyone out there still waiting, I beleive they are on it!!
Hello Karrie, I received a phone call from my distributor telling me it was going to be spring before I receive a transmitter, (I’m not on the priority access program), while I have accepted the fact that I was sold on something back in August that I can’t use fully until spring 2018, its not acceptable to not issue a refund for goods I sent back, the distributor basically told me my money is being held hostage by Medtronic, so now what do do?
AJ, I am very sorry for any delay. We’d be happy to discuss this with you and see if we can determine what is happening. Please email us at dhelp@medtronic.com with your contact information, the items you returned to your distributor and I will connect you with a teammate.
Sent the email, no response as of today
I’m sorry for the delay, Aj. I am following up with our Customer Support Center to ensure you receive a call back. If you prefer, you can reach them directly at 800.646.4633, option 5.
I need to by minimed-670g one unit for my mum
Please adive us where we can by from and how to by
Naushad, if your mother is in the US, please reach out to our device specialist at 800.646.4633, option 3. If your mother lives outside the US, please know that the MiniMed 670G system is not currently available outside of the US, but we are working with local regulatory agencies worldwide to make it available.
Got my 670g in Sept 2017 along with all supplies but the transmitter which I am now told is not available and will not be available until at least the end of November and possibly later. Any updates on this situation as my supplier CCS Medical and Medtronic themselves have not after at least 10 phone calls (hour and one half long calls) had the decency to reach out to me and update.
Jane, I am very sorry for the delay. I would recommend working with your distributor directly to check the status of your CGM order. They will have the most up-to-date information available.
Clearly as indicated I have reached out to them over and over again. No reply and alas the same from you! “
Hi Jane, I believe we have replied to all of your messages left on the blog. If we missed one, we apologize.
Do you know if the pump is covered under Florida Blue, BlueSelect? Im getting coverage starting January and would love to try the 670G!
Cesar, while the MiniMed 670G system is covered by many insurance companies, coverage is typically plan specific. Once your coverage is active, please give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 3. A device specialist will be happy to check into your benefits and coverage.
I finally got an email asking me to order my 670g which I did. I have Medicare A & B with a Medicare gap insurance. Is Medicare covering the supplies (same as those I’ve used since I was using the 522….and yes, I insist on using the 1.8ml reservoir) for the 670g? Currently Medicare covers my supplies for my 630g. Assuming Medicare does cover supplies, will I get the sensors at the same time because I am Priority Access? I know I have to pay for the sensors out of my own pocket. Thanks
Alice, this is a good conversation to have with our Supply Management team. They can review coverage and let you know when your orders are approved for shipping. You can reach them directly at 800.646.4633, option 2.
I’ve just received a letter from Medtronic asking me to Pay $1659 for my sensor for the 670. Last year when I received the 630 and sensor it was completely covered by insurance. I do believe because of the short time between the release of these two systems Insurance will not cover them. It was perhaps suspicious when we could get the 670 through the token payment of $300 and getting that money reinbursed through specific actions we could take and you would reinburse the money. Let’s talk about doing the same thing with the sensor???????
This whole process has been a dog and pony show and WE the Loyal customers have had to pay the price. Shame on you.
Ernest, I’m sorry for any confusion. I do recommend speaking with our Patient Financial Service team and your insurance plan regarding the bill you received.
I did talk with them…..MY BAD…..This was for the first 3 boxes of sensors. I do NOT get my sensors Medtronic since they are NOT a Preferred Provider with BCBS. I get my sensors from Edgepark. Medtronic, for better or worse, sent the first three months as a convenience to me so I would have some. I did not think that I would have to pay FULL RETAIL. This was in July and , I’m hazarding a guess, The 30 days has pass for a return. Again, Medtronic has …….well, we all have had this over and over…..Messed up our delicate financial situation regarding our health…….
Ernest, I won’t get into too much detail, as our comment section is public, but I do have additional notes from our Patient Financial Services team as of 11/01/17 that may help explain the reason for the statement. Please give them a call at your convenience. They can be reached at 800-646-4633, option 4.
Hoping I can get a clear answer and not a PC corporate robot response like I have been receiving. I was talked into changing from a different pump company back in June because Medtronic was the only company with the new closed loop system of the G670. When I signed the paperwork I was told that I would have ALL of my supplies including the CGM by August. I thought that this was reasonable since it was new and I was sure that it would be worth the wait. In august I was told September and in October was sent and email saying December. Now I have been wearing a pump that I am not able to use to it’s fullest potential for almost 5 months without fulfillment of Medtronic’s promise. I did notice that Medtronic has no problem billign my insurance company quickly and efficently then calling my phone daily regarding the $200 balance on my account even though you have been paid 5,000 already. How about you fulfill your end of the deal and then harass me about the balance on my account? This is unacceptable. I wouldn’t have made the switch if I knew there was such a wait, or is that why your consumers aren’t being told?! When will I have my CGM sensors/supplies?
Erin, I can certainly understand your frustration. We have experienced inventory delays that have caused us to push back delivery dates. At this time, we expect the CGM portion of your order to ship by the end of the year. I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused and I assure you we do not take this lightly. Once your order ships you will receive an email from UPS with tracking information and your delivery date. Thank you for your continued patience.
Hi. We’ve received our pump, 670g. We are still waiting on a transmitter so we can order sensors and begin the closed-loop system.
Our ordering team gave us different info, saying sensors were what was unavailable. Now after we’ve received the pump, I to go round an round with Medtronic to get them to RUN A SECOND METER through our insurance. I had to speak to three people then demand a supervisor for it to be ran, then it was, and as I kept telling them, paid 100% by my insurance. It was this same supervisor who told me sensors were available, transmitters were behind and coming out mid-Nov…. Sigh.
I contacted my pump rep, again, nothing. They were also of no help during the meter fiasco. My Medtronic login also showed our old pump. On a call, I had my child’s name spelling corrected, now it’s back to being misspelled.
I’m EXTREMELY disappointed with the lack of consistency and correct information from Medtronic. I understand what you are providing but it seems as if the company was not prepared to provide it… We and our insurance companies are paying heavy premiums for these devices so I don’t understand why the customer service is so inconsistent.
When will I be receiving my transmitter???
Amy, I am very sorry this was your experience. Our goal is always to provide consistent information across all teams. I understand you may have been given other information previously regarding the shipping of your CGM, however recent updates are showing it will ship in early 2018. Unprecedented demand for the system, followed by damage to our manufacturing facilities caused by hurricane Maria has impacted our inventory, but we are working to fully restore operations as quickly as possible. Again, I am sorry that we have not kept our commitment to you.
Please help me get started on obtaining a 670 system. I am uninsured, but in a process of application for Medicaid in IL. If not approved, I am ready to start a GofundMe initiative. How much will the out of pocket cost be? Does Medtronic offer any financial help?
Thank you!
Stefan, if you are purchasing your pump as a cash customer, you may be eligible for discounts that would lower your out of pocket costs and yes, we do offer financial assistance for those who meet certain criteria. We have a team here who would be happy to go over all of your options. When you are ready, please give them a call at 800.646.4633, option 3.
Karrie: Thanks for the prompt reply. I did call the team at the number you provided even before I wrote this here. The only thing they can offer is 20% off of a full system cash buy… A hefty 12,000 or so dollars. No criteria asked/offered. No patience either. The only heavily repeated question was “Is there anything else I can help you with today?” I expected a bit higher level of service. Perhaps my expectations are unrealistic, after all, what is a single client who is about to enter into a 12,000 debt to afford a fundamental change in his life?!
Your expectations are not unrealistic at all, Stefan. All of customers, both current and potential are important to us and I’m sorry if we gave you any reason to doubt that. I can’t make any promises, but if you send me your contact information to dhelp@medtronic.com, I’ll look into this and see what I can do to help.
Thanks Karrie,
I did send an email almost immediately, but as of today, December 8, there is still no answer..
Please look into this.
Stefan, I am sorry for the delay. I understand Nicole sent you an email today requesting additional information to get you connected with someone who can help. Please reply at your convenience and we will be in touch. Thank you for your continued patience.
I apologize if this question has already been answered. If I want to pay cash out-of-pocket for the 670g, what is the cost for just the pump?
David, you out of pocket cost would be determined based on any discounts you are eligible for. If you would like to discuss your options, please give our device specialists a call at 800.646.4633, option 3.
Is the guardian 3transmitter still on back order?
Jane, we are still fulfilling orders for customers enrolled in our Priority Access program and once complete, we can begin shipping the CGM portion for customers who currently have their MiniMed 670G pump. At this time, we expect to ship your Guardian Link transmitter in early 2018.
Being a VA member using a 630G now that was issued 4/28/2017. Is there a chance I will get the whole 670 system by Easter or is the 4th of July a better bet?
Thomas, we anticipate your order shipping by the end of the year. If there is a delay, we will be sure to let you know.
I last posted July 29th asking about pricing for Contour Next BG test strips. At that time the price was $52 for 50 strips. Today, the online store does not show any price for test strips.
Has there been a price increase? If so what is the new price???
I checked the on line star again today. “This category doesn’t have any products and sub-categories yet.” Why is the new, higher price for Contour Next BG test strips a secret???
Oops: Please change on line star to STORE.
Jerry, we did respond to you today that we’re looking to see why this is not available on the store.
Jerry, I’m looking into why the CONTOUR NEXT LINK test strips have been removed from the website, but they are still available to order with our Supply Management team and the price has not changed. If you need to place an order, please give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 2, Monday – Friday between 8a-6p central time.
Thank you, Karrie. That is good news. I was and still am upset about the massive price increase implemented by the manufacturer last June. For me, my Medicare Part B co-insurance increased +66% in June, 2017.
Have had my 670 since Aug, and the transmitter for a few weeks, yet STILL us little people who didn’t join the Medtronic fan club aren’t considered a Priority? Sounds like Medtronic needs to get there priorities straight. Why provide anything if you cant give everything needed to make this system work as advertised? When can I expect my sensors? Medtronic is making $$$$$$$$ off us, you have the funding to make sensors, so do it and quit playing with our health
Carl, I’m sorry you feel this way. While the name of the program is called Priority Access, it was never meant to imply that all of our customers are not equally important. I was able to locate your account and understand we are not your supplier. If you have a question regarding the status of your sensor order, please reach out to your supplier directly for an update.
This has nothing to do with my supplier, they could not get valid shipping times from Medtronic as to when the sensors would be available. This is a manufacturing and planning issue. I’m going on 4 months now with this supposed AMAZING 670, yet its not doing anything amazing without that CGM. I have been a loyal customer for over 8yrs…….seems like we deserve better than half a system.
Carl, I’d like to look into further for you. Please send your contact information to dhlep@medtronic.com and I’ll see what we can do to help.
Karrie,
email with contact info has been emailed to address provided. I’m assuming you meant to type dhelp@medtronic.com as the one you listed in not a valid email address. Thanks
Yes, Carl, that is correct, I’m sorry for the confusion. We did receive your email and I understand Nicole is working on this for you. Thanks for your patience.
I received a mailing from Medtronic that stated “Act by December 11 for your best chance to GET YOUR PUMP SHIPPED by Year-End.” Does that mean I may get a 670G insulin pump by December 31st but will have to wait to receive Guardian 3 transmitter and sensors? I spoke with my local territory rep yesterday and she will start the process for me.
Is it true that replacement MiniLink transmitters are no longer available? Does that mean that when my 2+ year old transmitter fails I will have to stop using my CGM for the first time in more than 10 years?
Jerry, yes, if you get your order by placed by 12/11, we may be able to get your pump to you by the end of the year. But you are correct, that your CGM won’t ship until early 2018. As far as replacement MiniLink transmitters, they are not currently available and I don’t have date on when they will be back in stock. In the event your current transmitter were to fail, we would review your available options, potentially shipping you a MiniMed 630G transmitter and exchanging your pump if it is still in warranty. If you have any other questions or would like to discuss this in more detail, please give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 3.
So for some random reason, my new med supply company sent me a kit of 5 sensors for my Guardian 3, is there someone particular in my area that should be contacting me for the training and initial setup? Thanks everyone for the help
I would be happy to put you in touch with your local team, Dan. I was able to locate your account and I will have your trainer reach out to you.
Karrie,
Good morning, I have yet to get a call from my local team in regards to getting me started with my cgm…..I’m a tech guy but this doesn’t seem like something I can “wing” and get going without proper consultation.
I’m sorry Katie hasn’t been able to reach out. I will follow up with her to get you started with your training.
Is there any update as to when this pump/cgm will work with minimed connect app?
Hi Chris, I’m sorry but I don’t have a timeline to share. We are working on remote monitoring capabilities for our new pump platform and will let the community know when we have updates available.
I have been without a cmg since April 2017. I am the first pumper in the VA in Jackson MS since 1998. My rep and the VA have been unable to get me the new pump and CMG since my pump warranty ran out in June of 2017. They were trying again on Dec 18 to order the pump. Is there some reason I am unable to get the new pump. Or is there a way to get the old CMG since I have 6 Boxes of sensors but no sensor to put them in.
I’m sorry to hear about this experience, Clifton. I was able to locate your account and I show your current pump is in warranty until September of this year. Generally, insurance will only cover a pump once it is out of warranty.
If your current transmitter is no longer working properly, please notify our 24-Hour HelpLine at 800.646.4633 option #1. They will be able to help you with your next steps.
Can the guardian link sensors for the 630 not be used with the 670? I understand the link 3 are for the auto/closed loop system. Can they not even be used in manual mode?
This is a great question, Mary. The MiniMed 630G system uses our Enlite sensors, while the MiniMed 670G system uses our newest Guardian Sensor 3 sensors. These sensors have to be used with their respective systems in order to function. If you have any questions about your supply orders, please give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 2.
ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT RECEUVED THERE 630s last April have had there 670 and transmitter set to the VA in Iowa City. Mine has not showed up there. Again I ask will I receive to ny Easter or is July 4th a better outlook?
I’m sorry for the delay, Thomas. I was able to locate your account and will have your dedicated device specialist give you a call to provide you with a status update. Thank you for your patience.
Another G3 sensor DOA again. Worked for 6hrs then after a Low BG it would not recalibrate. Help desk was helpful and they are sending me another one. I’m sending this one back. We ALL need to do this because they can test these and find out the issue. High Tech like this Requires feedback and testing to get better. Let’s do our part and work with Medtronic to better this already amazing product.
Is there any news for Medicare coverage for the CGM. People on Medicare should not be excluded from this life changing product!!
Diane, thank you for reaching out. We understand how important CGM technology is to many of our customers. While we are continuing to work with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, we do not have a time frame on when coverage for our CGM will be approved. I encourage you to work with your healthcare to team to discuss your options and to help advocate for coverage on your behalf. Good luck to you!
It seems like Medtronic has a lot of problems right now. Should I wait to get a new pump so y’all can get all your ducks in a roll? I mean it’s a lot of money to spend if I can’t get what I need to control my sugar! Please give me honest answer I have limited income and resources to get the run around
Steven, we did experience inventory issues in 2017, due to damage to our manufacturing facility from the hurricane in Puerto Rico and unprecedented demand for the MiniMed 670G system. We have restored operations in our facility and at this time our MiniMed 670G system is available for ordering. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this in more detail, please give our device specialists a call at 800.646.4633, option 3.
If Guardian connect is approved for the US, will it be available to us with what we currently have?
Nev, the Guardian Connect system is a standalone CGM device and will not work with any of our insulin pump systems.
X2 Still no contact about CGM training from anyone any Medtronic……now I have the items I need but have no idea how to use it. This is chaos
Dan, I have reached out to the local trainer for your area and requested they give you a call to schedule your training. I’m sorry for any delay, but thank you for your patience.
It seems whoever you asked to contact me doesn’t really care…….still no call, I might as well google how to use and set up this CGM so the money I have invested isn’t a total waste. Cmon Medtronic, help a diabetic out
Dan, I did follow up with our training team on Wednesday. Please send me an email at dhelp@medtronic.com and let me know if you’ve been contacted. Thanks!
I just received a bill for $3700 for the 670 pump. My son was diagnosed 18 months ago with diabetes. He was on the 630 pump with the assumption that he would get the 670 for $299. I ordered the 670 before the 7/28/17 deadline and have a confirmation receipt for $299. He got his new pump in October 2017 due to the delay etc in manufacturing. I understand that part of it. We returned his old pump and transmittor as requested in the postage paid envelope/box provided by Medtronics. So why are we being charged $3700 for something that is suppose to be $299. Getting the run around on this. Was told it could be a couple of months before the old pump shows in the system. Would like a direct answer as to whether the old pump was received or not and why the $3700 bill when the old pump was sent back. All our orders have been going through medtronics.
Roxanne, I’d like to see if I can help. Please email his name and the phone number associated with his account to dhelp@medtronic.com and a team member will be in touch. Please know, once the returned pump is processed the charge is removed. If you still have a record of your tracking number, please include it in the email as well.
Can a diabetic of over 39 years who has gastroparesis and finds it very difficult to eat, still be able to use the Medtronic 670 w/CGM? She is a brittle diabetic and had to be hospitalized with DKA many times in her diabetic life but even in the hospital they have a difficult time getting her bgs under control. She wore the round disk for that week for her endocrinologist and he feels the Medtronic 670 G w/CGM may help alleviate her fear of insulin due to the erratic highs and lows she suffers trying to do her blood tests daily and take the two insulins daily he prescribes. Will he inability to eat 3 regular meals a day keep her from being able to use this fantastic new pump? Thank you!
Thanks for reaching out, Bea and I’m sure this can be very difficult. I think an endocrinologist is best able to answer this question, but as far as approved uses the MiniMed 670G system is an option. We would encourage that they work closely with their healthcare team to ensure they have all the support they need.
Do I have to go through the process of upgrading from the 630 first, or can I get the 670G right away? If I do not upgrade, how much will it cost me?
Julia, you absolutely have the option to upgrade directly to the MiniMed 670G system. Your out of pocket cost will be determined based on your insurance coverage, but if you give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 3, we can go over your options and estimated cost.
Good morning, I just removed my Guardian Sensor to replace enlite, now for the second time I have an infected spot (only under the white sticky the sensor sits on top of) not where the large sticky pads go. This is the second time this has happened. Always directly under the sensor area. Can someone please help, I know when it starts itching there is a issue. Being diabetic infections are no Bueno and occur easily. I clean the spot prior to connection.
I’m sorry to hear this, Dan. While this is a good conversation to have with your healthcare provider, our 24-Hour HelpLine may be able to help. Please give them a call at your convenience at 800.646.4633, option 1.
Are there any updated alternatives for uploading glucose monitor memory from mac at this point in time?
As far as I can tell there is no option with a fully updated computer.
David, we recently updated CareLink and it now includes support for High Sierra. If you are having trouble getting connected, please give our Software team a call at 800.646.4633, ext, 21008 and we’d be happy to help.
Where is Medicare on the 670G coverage?
Hi, Mike! Currently, Medicare does not cover the MiniMed 670g system, but we are hard at work to establish coverage consistent with other national insurance plans. We’ll share updates with our community as soon as they are available.
Is anyone else being told by their Sales Reps that they have to pay for their Medtronic Insulin Pump for a certain amount on a 13 month rental basis because their insurance company will only cover it as a “rental”?? I called the medical plan and they insist all their durable medical supplies including the 670G CGM pump we hope to get is covered under an 80/20% plan. What is this 13 month rental deal about?? Thanks!
I have been told the same thing. Sales rep told me that Medicare or any other government health insurance (to include Tricare) pay for medical equipment over a 13 month period instead of paying the entire amount upfront. I haven’t been able to verify that with the insurance company though. My understanding is that Medtronic is referring to that as a “13 month rental” since the medical equipment has technically not been completely paid for. The part I don’t understand though is even though the government insurance will pay the entire amount over 13 months, Medtronic is saying that my insurance won’t cover it. I keep feeling like Medtronic is trying to “spin the story” as insurance won’t pay for it when they actually will. It appears to me that Medtronic is just unwilling to accept payments over 13 months instead of getting all of the money upfront. So they should say, “we’re sorry but we (Medtronic) will only accept insurance that pay for the 670G in its entirety upfront”. Ultimately is entirely up to Medtronic on how they sell their pumps, so I imagine that once the huge demand for the 670G has died down and the sales start to slow, they will decide to take payment plans for the pump then just as they do for all of their other pumps.
I am definitely disappointed in how Medtronics plays their “games” with selling their pumps! They make it almost impossible to figure out if we are over paying for what our 20% really is! I just got an “itemized” sheet in the mail on the 670G and all it’s maintenance supplies and I STILL don’t know if that is what the 20% is and it doesn’t show anything proving they got everything approved by the insurance company.
Maybe that is why they are so sure the insurance company “won’t” pay for it since they are not doing their part correctly in getting everything approved. There is no way we are getting involved with this company until they prove they “can” fulfill their part of any deal!
Hi
Please can you advice when this will be available in Australia?
Hi Gemma! We’re looking to make the MiniMed 670G system available worldwide, but don’t have a timeline to share. Please stay in touch with your local team for the most up to date information.
Hello Medtronics team- I’ve been making enquirees about the 670g and am very keen to get on it. It’s the functionality of the pump in 670g that I have always awaited. I recently moved to India and have made multiple calls to the local Medtronic helpline but they only seem to have the 630g or some other model and are unable to help. What are my options to buy the 670g? I really need your support here.
Thank you
Thank you for reaching out, Sachin. Currently, the MiniMed 670G system is only available in the US, but we have recently received CE Mark approval for our European customers. At this time, I do not have an update on when our newest system will be available in India, but I encourage you to continue checking in with your local team. They will have the most up to date information on availability. Good luck!
Hi,
Can the 670g pump be used without a sensor? What is the difference between using it with and without a sensor?
Yes, it can, GC. While you won’t have access to the SmartGuard features like Auto Mode and Suspend before Low, it can be used as a pump for insulin delivery. If you’d like to learn more, please give our therapy specialists a call at 800.646.4633, option 3.
I have champva, they say sensors for 670g are covered butmedtronic says they are not. I get no response from minimed and I guess I will have to go without sensors. Medtronic used rto bewonderful at handling insurance, now, they dont seem to care to help or resond to emails. Everytime I callchamp va, they tellme it is covered and they have notreceived anything from medtronic on my sensors. Makes me upset that I getno help from medtronic!
I’m sorry for any delay, Monica. I understand our supply team is working with your health plan to obtain authorization for your supplies and we will provide an update as soon as we can. If you’d like to discuss your order in more detail, let me know at dhelp@medtronic.com and I’ll connect you with someone who can help.
Is this offer still available? I would like to have this offer of paying $299 for the 670g and I send the 630g for my daughter.
Thanks for reaching out, Alimer. Our Priority Access program ended April 28, 2017. We’d be happy to discuss your options with you for upgrading your daughter’s pump, please give our team a call at 800.646.4633, option 3.
Hi,
I am looking to get my daughter the 670G pump.
We live in South Africa and it is scheduled to arrive here in May 2019.
I will be travelling to The States in May, would it be cheaper to buy it then?
How much would it cost me?
Thank you
Thanks for reaching out, Zoe. We do not recommend purchasing products before they have been approved in your area. This is due to the availability of ongoing supplies, technical support, and troubleshooting. Keep in mind, to purchase products in the US, we require a prescription from a US healthcare provider, a US shipping address and insurance or payment options from a US recognized company. I encourage you to continue working with your local team on availability and options for your daughter.
can you provide the 670g minimed in the gulf countries, the middle eaistand please give us more details about its function and when it will be available.and what is about those who are in old minimed version and still on warranty, are they able to upgrade and what about its price
Our goal is to have the MiniMed 670G system available internationally, but we’re unsure of the timeline. The best thing to do is to reach out to your local representative, as they may have more information for you: http://bit.ly/1ce3pEc.
