Meet the Newest Member of the Family: The MiniMed 630G System

Great news, everyone! Today I’m thrilled to share that the FDA has approved the MiniMed® 630G system with SmartGuard™ technology. This advanced diabetes system provides better glucose control[i], protective action and personalized management so you can focus less on managing highs and lows and more on what matters most to you –whether that’s time with your loved ones, pursuing a big career goal, traveling the world or all of the above!
What’s so exciting about the MiniMed 630G system? Let’s find out.
SmartGuard technology
MiniMed 630G is a new insulin pump combined with our Enlite® sensor. The system includes SmartGuard, our exclusive technology that takes action to reduce the risk of diabetes complications ii. The system automatically stops delivering insulin when your sensor glucose hits a preset low level and you don’t respond to the alarm. SmartGuard is available in both MiniMed 630G and MiniMed 530G systems (you may recognize this as Threshold Suspend.)
A new, improved pump design
The MiniMed 630G system also has a brand new (and improved) pump design with many more personalization options to make the system more convenient and tailored to how you manage your diabetes. You can customize alerts and alarms and we’ve introduced more user-friendly menus. The new system also includes that full-color screen and waterproofing you’ve been asking us for! This new design incorporated extensive patient feedback and user testing from people with diabetes, so we can’t wait to hear what you think.
A new meter
The MiniMed 630G system exclusively uses the CONTOUR®NEXT LINK 2.4 Meter to provide highly accurate blood glucose testing and to automatically transmit blood glucose results into the pump to eliminate manual entry errors when using the Bolus Wizard® calculator or calibrating the sensor. It’s similar to the CONTOUR NEXT LINK meter that comes with our MiniMed 530G system and is the only meter FDA approved for use with the new system. It also allows you to discreetly give a manual or a pre-set bolus of insulin remotely from the meter – another feature that many of you have told us would be beneficial to you.
Just one more step
Here at Medtronic Diabetes, our vision is to transform diabetes care, together for greater freedom and better health. This new system demonstrates Medtronic’s focus on making diabetes devices more convenient and simple to use as well as delivering better clinical outcomes. We’re certainly not done yet. Innovation is a journey and we’re constantly working on improving the products we have today as well developing new ones. In the meantime, we can’t wait to hear what you think of this latest step to help you live your exceptional life.
Part of a family
The MiniMed 630G system joins our family of diabetes management products, including our MiniMed 530G system which we will continue to provide. The MiniMed 530G system is popular for its ability to be used with MiniMed Connect mobile accessory, which allows people with diabetes to discreetly view CGM data on their smartphones as well as remote monitoring for their care partners. So, we’re offering both products to meet the different lifestyle needs of people with diabetes. Like the MiniMed 530G system, the MiniMed 630G system is approved for people age 16 and older.
We expect to start shipping in a few weeks and we’ll be sure to keep our community updated. To learn more about the product in the meantime, visit our website.
Important Safety Information
The MiniMed 530G and 630G systems with SmartGuard technology are intended for the delivery of insulin and continuous glucose (CGM) monitoring for the management of diabetes mellitus in persons 16 years of age or older who require insulin. Insulin infusion pumps and associated components of insulin infusion systems are limited to sale by or on the order of a physician and should only be used under the direction of a healthcare professional familiar with the risks of insulin pump therapy.
The systems are not intended to be used directly for preventing or treating hypoglycemia but to suspend insulin delivery when the user is unable to respond to the Suspend on low alarm and take measures to prevent or treat hypoglycemia themselves. The information provided by CGM systems is intended to supplement, not replace, blood glucose information obtained using a blood glucose meter.
WARNING: The Threshold Suspend/Suspend on Low feature will cause the pump to temporarily suspend insulin delivery for two hours when the sensor glucose reaches a set threshold. Under some conditions of use the pump can suspend again resulting in very limited insulin delivery. Prolonged suspension can increase the risk of serious hyperglycemia, ketosis, and ketoacidosis. Before using the Threshold Suspend/Suspend on Low feature, it is important to read the information in the MiniMed System User Guide and discuss proper use of the feature with your healthcare provider.
A confirmatory fingerstick via a CONTOUR®NEXT LINK portfolio meter*, is required prior to making adjustments to diabetes therapy. Always check the pump display when using a CONTOUR®NEXT LINK portfolio meter*, to ensure the glucose result shown agrees with the glucose results shown on the meter. Additional, warnings, precautions and contraindications apply. See www.medtronicdiabetes.com/support/download-library/user-guides and www.medtronicdiabetes.com/importantsafetyinformation for details.
*The CONTOUR®NEXT LINK 2.4 Meter is used with the MiniMed 630G system. The CONTOUR®NEXT LINK Meter is used with the MiniMed 530G system.

Am I going to be switched to this new pump? Please advise. Thank you.
Edward – we’ll have a variety of different programs that will help many customers upgrade to the MiniMed 630G system. They vary by insurance coverage, time since you bought your last pump etc. Visit http://medtronicdiabetes.com/products/minimed-630g-insulin-pump-system and fill out the form to request more information.
Not at all happy at the moment with the 630G system. Have been using it for about one year. 630G recall in January because of no sound issue. Medtronic replaced it with a RECERTIFIED pump. Was not too happy that it wasn’t a new pump because this is, afterall, my health depending on a pump. And, at the time, I questioned a RECERTIFIED…where did it come from in the first place that it wasn’t new? Over the weekend, 30 days after receiving the RECERTIFIED pump, it COMPLETELY FAILED. No longer usable. Not able to retrieve any information from it. Had to resort back to syringes. So much for the RECERTIFICATION process. While Medtronic did get me a new pump right away, it took 5 phone calls over the course of 5 hours and an entire day WASTED. Not happy with Medtronic’s different frequency excuse for not being able to connect to iPhone like 530G did. My 530G was 4 years old, worked like a champ, but they stopped making the transmitter for them so had to change to the 630G. The 670G system was out almost simultaneously with the 630G system. It seems to me Medtronics is attempting to push out product before it’s finished just to appear to stay ahead of the game. Medtronic, these are people’s lives you are dealing with. Put out a good product, not a piece of trash, just to be able to say you have a new product.
I’m sorry to hear this was you experience, Marie, this certainly the experience we strive for. I’m glad to hear you received a new pump and please know we are working on remote monitoring for our pump systems. The MiniMed 670G system was approved much faster than anticipated and we didn’t want to hold back this technology for a single feature. If you’d like to discuss your concerns in more detail, please email us at dhelp@medtronic.com and we’ll be in touch.
We currently use the connect feature for iPhone viewing and remote monitoring. Will that be available on the new system? Android compatible yet for either system ?
Hi Elizabeth – the MiniMed Connect app is not compatible with MiniMed 630G (MiniMed Connect uses a different radio frequency to communicate with the MiniMed 530G system than the RF frequency that the MiniMed 630G system uses). We will continue to offer both the MiniMed 530G system and the MiniMed 630G system. For those interested in the connectivity benefits of the MiniMed Connect app and its remote monitoring features, we recommend the MiniMed 530G system.
Does the CGM system on this new pump using RF or Bluetooth?
It uses RF.
Will the 630G ever be compatible with the Connect App or something similar? That is a great feature I was hoping would be on the new on, as the waterproof and design have pulled me in that direction already.
Thanks for the feedback, Justin. We’re continuing to work on connectivity for other future products.
WHY does the 630g not have the awesome connect feature for i phones and remote activation for insulin bolus delivery
Hi Mary – the MiniMed Connect app uses a different radio frequency (RF) to communicate with the MiniMed 530G system than the RF frequency that the MiniMed 630G system uses. The new system does though allow for remote bolus function from the CONTOUR NEXT LINK 2.4 Meter.
Elizabeth – and, yes, we anticipate Android compatibility for MiniMed Connect by this Fall. Thank you very much for your patience!
Hi, I am interested does it work with the current Enlite sensors (1st gen) or you will provide us with 2nd or 3rd gen
Regards
The MiniMed 630G system includes Enlite sensors. The Guardian Link transmitter and the device used to insert the sensors are both new, though. The one-press serter was designed to make it easier/more comfortable to insert – you only need one button press for the entire process.
when will android users be able to use the minimed connect stuff? 🙁
Hi Kara – we anticipate we’ll have Android compatibility for the MiniMed Connect app (which works with our MiniMed 530G system) by this Fall. Thanks for your patience!
Will this pump use the same reservoirs as the previous pumps. If so, what size? Thank you.
Yes, this pump uses the same 3.0 ml reservoirs as previous MiniMed pumps.
what about the 1.8 ml reservoirs? are they also compatible?
Hi Julie – the MiniMed 630G insulin pump is only approved for use with the 3mL reservoirs.
Hi. Does the 630 use the same sets and reservoirs? Also does the new bg meter use the contour next strips?
Yes on all three, Jamie!
hi. this looks exciting. why wouldn’t you include the mobile connect features in the new pump? and what is the size difference between the 530 and the 630. thank you.
Hi Rob, the RF frequency is different from the MiniMed 530G system to the MiniMed 630G system, which is why the MiniMed Connect app is not compatible with the new system. We do plan to integrate connective into future products, though. As for the size, the MiniMed 630G system is about 5.1 grams heavier than previous MiniMed pumps with the battery inserted.
It is nice to know the weight difference, but what are the dimension differences between the 2 models?
And does the 630G use a different belt clip than the 530G, which I imagine it does?
And……
Thanks for answering all these questions that you are handling!!!!
Mike – dimensions are 2.1”W x 3.78”H x 0.96”D. Yes, the belt clip is different since the pump is a different shape. Only the 3.0 ml is approved for use with the MiniMed 630G system. And you’re very welcome – doing our best to keep up! 🙂
With this new 630G, is there only one insertion that handles both insulin delivery AND the cgm feature, or still 2 sights?
It’s still two sites, Jacob.
I was reading the information on the new minimed pump. My daughter was diagnosed with T1 right after her 4th birthday and has been diabetic for almost 20 years. She has had Animas pump and is currently on the Tandem. We are always looking for more advanced alternatives to assist her in controlling her diabetes. She will not wear a CGM because she does not want another attachment and has read mixed reviews on the accuracy of these devices. Do you know if there will every be an attempt to fuse the CGM and insulin delivery into one site? I’m not sure that this is even possible, but we keep waiting to see if any company can develop such a pump. A cure is the real answer but until then…. we will continue to look for devices that will enable her to manage her diabetes with as little stress as possible. Thank you!
I can’t talk about future products, Tina. But the idea of combining the infusion set and sensor is definitely something we’ve heard from others in the community and something we’re exploring.
I have the 530 now and use the mobile phone app to help with alerts from my pump my spouse also gets a notification if I have an alert. Will that feature be sent from the new 630 or will we still need to use the app
Chris – the MiniMed 630G system is not compatible with MiniMed Connect.
Your photos indicate the new pump can go INTO water. True for shower/swimming?
Yes, Mary. The MiniMed 630G pump is, at the time of manufacture, waterproof in up to 12 feet of water for up to 24 hours. The Guardian Link transmitter is waterproof up to 8 feet for up to 30 minutes.
You stated the transmitter only last 30 minutes up to 8 feet of water. Is there a transmitter available that will last up to 12 feet of water for 24 hours like the pump? It seems odd for it to only work for 30 minutes and the 630G works for 24 hours.
Hi Tammy, when the transmitter and sensor are connected, they form a water-tight seal to a depth of 8 feet for up to 30 minutes. This is how the product was tested and the only information we have to share.
if i had known that this was coming out i would have waited. i was wondering why i was never told. i just got the 530 g last month. i would have liked the waterproof and other features.
Hi Krist – the MiniMed 630G system was JUST approved. Of course, we’re not allowed to talk about product before they are approved for use by the FDA. If you fill out the form on this page someone will reach out and help you explore your options. http://medtronicdiabetes.com/products/minimed-630g-insulin-pump-system
Is this new pump have blue tooth so you do not have to carrier the connect module in on you to link up with your phone?
Shawn – the MiniMed 630G system is not compatible with the MiniMed Connect app (the radio frequency between the two pumps is different). However, we will continue to offer our MiniMed 530G system who find the ability to see pump/CGM info right on their phones the most valuable to them.
When will the new system (630g) be available in Canada?
The MiniMed 630G system is only approved in the US. Feel free to connect with your local team about the technology available to you locally.
Available in Canada April/May 2017 Got a email from one of there Rep’s :>)
Is this worthwhile to use if I do not use the enlites? I do not have coverage for them and they are too pricey for my budget. Also I am in Canada…will this be available here too?
The MiniMEd 630G system is only approved for use in the U.S.
Now that the 630G has been approved in Canada, I have the same question as above. Is this worthwhile if I do not use the Enlites? They are pricy; I don’t have coverage and when I have used them the quality and consistency were frustrating.
Hi Shannon – it would be best to reach out the Medtronic team in Canada as we are the US team. Here is information for how to get in touch with the team: http://www.medtronicdiabetes.ca
http://www.medtronicdiabetes.ca (French site)
does the glucose monitor use a separate site or is it all in one? I currently have two children on minimed and we are hoping to move on to a CGM this fall.
Hi Holly – the glucose sensor is a separate site on the body than the infusion set. However, you don’t have to carry an additional receiver. The CGM is integrated with the pump, so you can see CGM information right on the pump screen. In addition, the MiniMed 530G and MiniMed 630G systems are the only ones to take action – the pump stops delivering insulin for up to 2 hours when the sensors hits a pre-set low. To learn more, go here and fill out the form and someone from our team will be in touch. http://medtronicdiabetes.com/products/minimed-630g-insulin-pump-system
So is the pump fully waterproof? Can you wear it in a pool or the ocean?
Kim – at the time of manufacture, the pump is waterproof in 12 feet for up to 24 hours. The Guardian Link transmitter is waterproof for 8 feet for up to 30 minutes
What does exclusively uses Contour Next Link mean? Are you not able to enter a manual BG at all? My son has used CNL in a trial and they are convenient with the 530g, but while my pump is covered my insurance doesn’t cover CNL. Your rep laughably and cluelessly suggested I should just buy them. If the 630g is exclusive, Medtronic needs to do a better job getting strips covered when insurers cover the pump.
Hi Tiffany – you can certainly still enter a manual BG, but only the CONTOUR NEXT LINK 2.4 communicates with the MiniMed 630G pump and allows you to remotely bolus from the meter. Also keep in mind the CONTOUR NEXT Reimbursement Support Program, which provides CONTOUR NEXT Test Strip support if you’re on a compatible Medtronic insulin pump. For more information visit http://www.contournexthelp.com or call 1.866.296.1436.
Your medical provider should be able to obtain a prior authorization for the CNL strips. We have never had an issue with a PA being denied, with most going through on initial request, and rarely an appeal repeat request needed.
Most medicare policies do not cover the Contour next system. I have been turned down (even on appeal) because the One Touch is the meter that is approved. I’ve decided to pay out of pocket for the Contour Next strips.
Thanks for sharing this exciting news! Will this, or other Medtronic CGM/ Pump/ Connect units achieve compatibility with the Apple Watch?
Hi Mike! Right now, the Minimed Connect app (which works with the MiniMed 530G system) is not compatible with Apple Watch. We are working on building connectivity into future products based on thew new pump platform, but it’s too early for details on compatibility for that.
Well there at some point be a connect device available for the 630g?
Jenn, we’re working on integrated connectivity into future products. And the MiniMed Connect app is still available with the MiniMed 530G system.
I just bought a pump 6 months ago I want to trade it in my insurance company does not cover a new one for years from now I feel cheated, told to buy a new on when this one was coming out soon I,helped the FDA research with this pump and knew it was coming out and even a before purchasing the one I have now. I’m very sad.
Hi Rose – we do have a variety of programs that can help with upgrading early for those that meet certain criteria. The program vary based on insurance, how long since you bought your last pump etc. If you visit here and fill out the form, someone will be in touch to explore your options. http://medtronicdiabetes.com/products/minimed-630g-insulin-pump-system
Will the Minimed pumps for children ever be upgraded?
Colleen – The clinical trial only had people with diabetes who were aged 16+. We are pursuing the clinical evidence to support an indication for children 15 and under, but we do not have a timetable for when this will happen.
The “low” suspend, will the pump suspend for 2 hours or just until your bgl is above the set “low alert “?
Holly – with SmartGuard technology, the system starts alarming when your sensor glucose hits a pre-set low level. If you don’t respond it suspends the insulin. The insulin stays suspended for 2 hours unless you respond to the alarm. After 2 hours, it resumes basal insulin delivery.
Hello Karrie,
Is it possible to use the 630G without the elite/CGM piece? I would only like to use the pump functionality if possible.
Thanks
We do believe you get the most value out of MiniMed 630G when used as a system. If you fill out the form here, someone can contact you about your options. http://medtronicdiabetes.com/products/minimed-630g-insulin-pump-system
I have the same question. I have issues with scar tissue after wearing a pump for over 20 years and I’d like the option to wear the CGM periodically, to get a finger on the pulse, but not all of the time. Please advise if this is POSSIBLE, even if not the preferred method of use.
Lindsey, we recommend that you discuss what might work best for you with your healthcare team. Studies have shown that the more often sensors are worn, the better the clinical outcomes, with the best results occurring when people wear sensors all the time.
I only use the sensor to keep myself in line. I have site issues too.
Hi Joyce – thanks for reaching out. I’m going to have a member of our team reach out to you in regard to the site issues that you’re having.
Do you know how often insurance companies will allow an upgrade? Luckily I dont have a copay for DMEs and have never paid for a pump yet. Also, is there a credit when we turn in the 530G as we’ve received in the past? Thanks
Michael, we have several different programs depending on your insurance plan, when you purchased your last pump etc. If you visit the website and fill out the form, someone will be in touch. http://medtronicdiabetes.com/products/minimed-630g-insulin-pump-system
Thanks for the info. I have a 530G and I’m thinking the Connect when it comes out for Android, will show the same basic values on the phone as the 630G will show on the new pump. Am I correct that the Connect feature allows communication with the pump (delivery, viewing, bolus etc) and it would be similar to the 630G?
Michael MiniMed Connect is not available with the MiniMed 630G system. You are correct that using MiniMed Connect with the MiniMed 530G system allows you to see pump and CGM inforamtion on your phone.
Hi Karrie – will the new Contour Next Link 2.4 and its features work with the 530G?
Hi Kimberly – no, the CONTOUR Next Link 2.4 (with remote bolusing) only works with the MiniMed 630G system. The CONTOUR Next Link is the meter that communicates with the MiniMed 530G system.
What is the battery situation for the 630? Still a AAA? The color screen looks like it would suck up battery power pretty quickly.
You’re right, Derek, the color screen does need more battery power, which is why the MiniMed 630G system uses a AA battery instead of a AAA.
Does the 630g have the algorithms in place to be used as an hybrid pancreas as it does in Europe?
The MiniMed 630G system is not the same as the system available in Europe or hybrid closed loop technology. Similar to the MiniMed 530G system, it includes SmartGuard technology, the only technology to take action based on the sensor. The pump will stop delivery of insulin once you hit a pre-set low threshold provided you don’t respond to the alarm.
Really the problem with cgm is that it is always WAY off or it gives alarms when it shouldn’t be…. You have to stick your fingers anyways so save the money and headache and don’t use cgm
I feel the CGM is only a guide, and because it reads from interstitial fluid rather than actual blood sampling, yes, it WILL be off more often than not. But it’s only a guideline telling you that you should probably do a finger stick. I have my threshold at 90 because my sugar is often lower than the CGM says. I would feel lost without the CGM. It’s too bad you feel it’s a headache…maybe discuss with your health care professional what’s the best way to use the system. Good luck.
I was just saying to my son I wish they would make a waterproof pump or a BG/case that it can go into so I don’t have to dis-connect its really a pain the neck I love swimming and this would be great to own. How do we find out more about it and how and if we can have it?
If you go here and fill out the form, someone will be in touch with your options! http://medtronicdiabetes.com/products/minimed-630g-insulin-pump-system
If I don’t use the CGM sensor, is there a benefit to upgrading to this model from the 530G? My current pump is pretty banged up.
If you go to http://medtronicdiabetes.com/products/minimed-630g-insulin-pump-system and fill out the form, someone from our team can walk you through our options.
Is the 630G easier to read than the 530? I can’t read the screen without reading glasses.
It is a bright, color screen and many patients have said they found it easier to read than earlier MiniMed pumps.
Are there plans to make the units Blue Toothed so there is no need for the Connect device.
Gery – We are working on connectivity for future products.
You need to work with Medicare, if you receive your contour next strips by mail they are no longer availble.
Medtronic and Bayer created a meter that connects to your pump and are not concerned on how you obtain the strips I have had more problems in obtaining the strip for this meter because the cost is higher than for other strips perhaps you could look into this situation and see if you can retify it.
Robert, you might want to check out the CONTOUR NEXT Reimbursement Support Program, which provides CONTOUR NEXT Test Strip support if you’re on a compatible Medtronic insulin pump. For more information visit http://www.contournexthelp.com or call 1.866.296.1436.
Is there anything slated that will cover the pump acting on high blood sugars? Similar to the suspend feature with lows but say for example it increases the basal rate for 30 minutes to help counter the rise in blood sugar? Other than being waterproof this is pretty much the same as the 530g, just new package or is there something more significant?
Great question, Sam! Yes, today’s SmartGuard technology is an important first step along a path to a fully automated closed loop system. I can’t talk about future products, but there are many steps along that path and we know that addressing highs are important as well.
Hi. Do you have to use the sensor with this pump or does it still function normally without use of the CGM ?
May – You don’t HAVE to use CGM, but we feel strongly about the value that it provides, especially with our exclusive SmartGuard technology.
I have the 530G system, but use the 1.8mL reservoirs. Does the new 630 offer the smaller variation?
Rachael, the pump comes in one size and is only approved for use with a 3.0mL reservoir.
Hi Karrie,
Thank you for this article! Do you know the dimensions of the new pump? I’m petite, and I already have a hard time finding a place to wear my 530g pump with dresses, skirts, etc. It’s even tricky to fit into small pockets. Thank you for any information you may have!
You bet, Katherine! The dimensions are 2.1”W x 3.78”H x 0.96”D, a 17% volume difference from our MiniMed 530G system. It’s slightly larger so it can accommodate a AA battery.
Is there an eta in the approval for those under 16? My daughter is almost 6 and this seems like a really great system for small children whose diabetes is being managed by others.
Melissa, the clinical trial only had people with diabetes who were aged 16+. We are pursuing the clinical evidence to support an indication for children 15 and under, but we do not have a timetable for when this will happen.
It would be really nice if Medicaid would cover continuous glucose monitoring. I have had issues with my last pump and this new pump. Low blood sugars that I almost died from when I have never had any issues like that before and I’ve been a diabetic for 29 years. Any time frame on when Medicaid may start covering?
Tiffany, we’re actively involved in a coalition advocating for Federal legislation on just this topic. To find out more and learn how you can get involved visit: http://www.loop-blog.com/update-expanding-access-cgm-medicare/
I have been waiting for this to come out. I know it has been available overseas for a while and has had some good reviews. I have been on a Medtronic pump now for 10 years, currently a 523 which was purchased 5 years ago. I did give the Tslim a try but I had some major issues as did my wife. We both shelved the Tslim after 3 months. I am anxious to get my hands on one of these and see what new features are on this. I have read all about it but its always a different story once in your hands and using it. Are they available now?
Gordon – this system is different from the one available outside the US. It has the same SmartGuard technology to what is in the MiniMed 530G system but in a new, more consumer-friendly design with more convenient features — based on feedback from people like you! You can order now. Start by filling out the form here http://bit.ly/2aNu0dK We’ll be able to ship in another 6-7 weeks or so.
Hello, would this 630G model be able to be used if a person didn’t want to use the CGM sensors and just the pump?
We strongly believe the way to get the best value out of the system is to use it as a system. But if you fill out the form someone can help you look into your options. http://bit.ly/2aNu0dK
I just got the 530? Pump with the cgm. About a month ago. What are the chances I could upgrade to this new one. I had no idea it was coming out .
We’ll have several different programs available once we begin shipping in 6-7 weeks or so. If you want to go ahead and fill out the form here http://bit.ly/2aNu0dK someone will be in touch with your options.
Is the Enlite Sensor that is integrated into the new 630G system the same as the one that is used with the 530G? What is the “Guardian Link” transmitter? Is the one-press serter that is used for the 630G able to be used with the enlites from the 530G system?
Yes Sandy, the MiniMed 630G system includes the Enlite sensor, which is the same sensor available in the MiniMed 530G system. The Guardian Link transmitter that connects with the Enlite sensor is new. The previous CGM transmitter is not compatible because it operates on a different radio frequency. The MiniMed 630G system uses the new One-press serter, which can be used with the Enlite sensor on either system but it isn’t available for purchase yet.
Any idea when the new one-press serter will be available for purchase?
Sandy, you will be able to purchase it online by the end of this month on the online store.
My daughter complains about how slow the bolus is on her 530 G. Does the 630 G deliver insulin at the same rate?
Tara, great question. There are two bolus speeds, Standard and Quick. The Standard rate delivers an average of 1.5 units per minute and the Quick rate delivers an average of 15 units per minute.
Hi Karrie,
I am both excited and upset at this development.
I was contacted in mid-June that my insulin pump was out of warranty, so it would be wise to get a new one. I specifically asked over the phone if there were any new pumps in the pipeline with screens that were easier to read, since as a Type 1 diabetic for 51 years, my eyesight was not the best. I was told that no, there weren’t, and so the end of June I ordered the Minimed 530g, which I received on June 30th. As you know, it has the same poor screen as the previous pumps.
Now, only a month later, Minimed reveals a pump with exactly the upgrade in the display that I sorely needed. Is there any recourse to this, or possibility of exchanging pumps with a minimal cost for me? The pump is barely one month old.
Thanks!
Todd
Thanks for your feedback, Todd. I’m sorry but we aren’t able to speak to future products until they are FDA approved. We accept returns within 30 days for our products and will have upgrade options available for our customers in November. We’re still sorting out details and ramping up inventory.
I am due for a replacement, as my current pump is five years old. Is there literature available for this pump, and will it be available for trial?
Brian, we will be adding more information on our website in the near future but feel free to get started here http://bit.ly/2aNu0dK. We’re currently finalizing our upgrade programs and ramping up inventory so I recommend that you check back with us in November. We will have an upgrade program available to you but free trials will be for new Medtronic customers only.
As i read all the info of the 650g. I think it is great. I was just pushed into getting tge 530g by getting a call saying the info tgey gave me for new pump was not going to be available, so i ryahed to get it and a week later i was being shown how to use my new pump and tge next day guess what this new pump was approved. I was so mad. But this 530g it really nice. It has more buttons to push then the old one. The only things i cant stand is the thresh suspend going off in the middle of the night. And here today it would stop which is great but once my sugar was normal it was still off. The other thing i wish this one and the new one had was this when the sugar is high it would automatically give insulin instead of waiting for a check.
Assuming this pump is marketed for CGM users only? So no point in moving from Revel if we are not CGM folk?!?
We strongly believe that the MiniMed 630G with SmartGuard technology provides the greatest clinical benefit to people with diabetes when used as a system, which is why we’re only offering it to most people as a system. If you’re interested in learning more, feel free to give us a call.
So the only real differences between the current 530g and the new 630g are the waterproofing feature and the updated physical design?
Ben, there are additional new features including customizable options, user-friendly menus and a remote bolus function. This system was created with feedback from our customers that we’ve heard over the years.
I would rather stick with my old pump. I am not a fan of the contour next meter. I would rather input the results of my meter that costs 40 cents per strip then one that costs 80 cents per strip
When will this be available in Canada?
Sarah, I’m sorry but I can’t provide any details on product availability in other countries. This system was approved for use in the U.S. and I recommend that you reach out to your local team in Canada for products that are available there.
Honestly I am not impressed, why are you still using RF technology? Bluetooth communication would be so much better and compatible with so many more devices. Also Medtronic CGM is terrible. Used it for a month and it was the worst experience I had with my current pump. When my insurance lets me get a new pump in 2 years I know I will steer clear of any Medtronic product.
I literally just got a new pump setup(730G with Elite sensor) on Monday this week and now this has been released. Can I change out the new pump I just got to this one?
Lacey, we have a 30-day exchange policy. Reach out to your Diabetes Therapy Consultant to review the options available to you, or you can email dhelp@medtronic.com.
Can I exchange the old one with the new one.
Pepo – it depends on when you purchased your last one insurance etc. We have a variety of programs. If you fill out the form here http://bit.ly/2aNu0dK someone will call you to discuss
This new pump sounds so great I can’t tell you how many times I’ve passed out from low blood sugar and how many times I’ve turned down events that evolve water sports the only thing I think could help is if their were some way to make everything in bigger numbers an words so people with poor eyesight could see it better I can’t wait to get the new pump
My son got a brand new 530 pump in July. I specifically asked if a newer pump was coming, I had heard that one was in development, but the sales rep could not confirm that. I was told it would be some time before it would be available, but he could upgrade before he ages off my insurance. Had I known it would be released 6 weeks later, I would have waited. It took nearly a month to get a pump trainer to his home, he has only been wearing it for 2-3 weeks. Yes, I know, there is no way to know when the FDA does its approval. I will fill out the form.
Thanks for understanding, Susan. I know it’s frustrating. But our U.S. team is not permitted to talk about products until they are approved for use by the FDA.
Thank you
What if I do not use the CGM ? Am I wasting my time with the 630G? Would be no better than my Paradigm 722? Can the CGM feature be turned off? Thanks
Yes, the CGM feature can be turnoff, you don’t have to use it. But we strongly believe that CGM provides a lot of value and the best value you can get out of the MiniMed 630G system is to use it as a system.
I currently have a 523 which uses the 1.8ml reservoirs, is there going to be a 1.8 ml version of the 630g? If no, will the 1.8 ml reservoirs fit? I have quite the stockpile of supplies that I would hate to see go to waste……..
I’m sorry, John. The MiniMed 630G only comes in one size and only the 3.0 ml reservoirs are approved for use with it.
Heloo, I have a 13 years old daughter with diabetes. We have a problem with the transmitter. She thinks that it is verry big and ugly and she does not want to use it. I would like ti ask do you think about changing the design of the sensor and transmitter, because it doesn`t matter what extras have the new pump when the teenagers don`t want to use it.
This is a revolting development!!! I’ve only had the 530g for 5 months-AFTER a 2 year struggle to get it. Now what. Those of us who were not told a newer pump was coming should have some recourse to obtain the 630g. I know you don’t know WHEN FDA will approve, but you certainly knew 1 was in the works and approval had been requested. I’m stuck in the Medicare not paying; switched to a supplemental insurance plan which I cannot afford; and now this. Not a good feeling, Mr. Israk…
I’m sorry you’re upset Patricia. We are absolutely not permitted to talk about future products before they are approved for use by the FDA. We do have several different upgrade options available, depending on your situation. If you’d like to fill out the form here http://bit.ly/2aNu0dK someone will be in touch to discuss your situation.
When you say “we” , who do you mean?
A member of the Medtronic team.
Hi Karrie,
I have an unusual situation here. My 530G failed over the weekend. I have been Out of Warranty since March and was waiting for the 630G to be released. The Minimed sales rep sent me a 530G and I received it yesterday. The new pump is still unopened. Considering I am on a loaner at the moment (good for 83 more days), do you know if I can return the 530G and request the 630G?
Hi Bill, the best thing would be for you to talk with our team about your options. You can email them at dhelp@medtronic.com.
I have the 530G and the alarms do not wake either me or my husband. Will the alarms on the new pump be louder?
Barbara, the alarms of the MiniMed 630G system are adjustable up to 2x louder than those on the MiniMed 530G.
I’m glad this question was asked! I have a hearing impairment and right now use the vibrate because I don’t hear the alarms on the 530G. Could be a deal breaker….
What is the maximum bolus allowed on this new pump? Does it have a progammable maximum bolus feature?
Kelly, I’m looking into this and will get back to you soon.
Hey Kelly, thanks for your patience. The Max Bolus can be set up to 75 units and can be programmed based on guidance from your healthcare team.
I see you posted the dimensions of the 630G. What are the dimensions of the 530G? I was just approved for a pump and don’t know which one would be best. Is there anywhere I can do a comparison of the two pumps?
Jill, there is a 17% difference volume difference between the two systems. The main reason for the increase in size and weight over Paradigm is to accommodate the AA battery which is required to properly power the pump and color screen. In the next few weeks, we plan to put more information on our website to compare the two. In the meantime, you can visit these two pages: http://bit.ly/2aNu0dK and http://bit.ly/198n9Bf.
So, the new 630G system is a completely different size, so a whole new line of accessories will be coming out? I’ve build up my accessories over the years, and that makes me a bit sad. I also have noticed how easily the pump clips break, and have begun buying a back up just to keep one on hand. Is it possible that any sort of exchange program will be offered for unopened clips?
Becky – some of the existing accessories (i.e. SpiBelt, some of the cases/pouches) will fit both the MiniMed 530G and MiniMed 630G insulin pumps. Others will require different sizes (i.e. the silicon skins). The pump clip is different on the MiniMed 630G system and will ship with any new pump order.
Hi, When we can buy this new pump in the middle east? you know even the last pump model ( 530) does not sell in the middle east and we still anticipate it.
Hi Pouya – this is the U.S. team. Please check here for local contacts who can help you in the Middle East. http://www.medtronicdiabetes.com/customer-support/international-contacts
Hi. You said “The MiniMed 630G system is not the same as the system available in Europe or hybrid closed loop technology”.
So what is the difference between the USA version of the 630G and the European version?
Does the euro version have more features that can be used as technology advances than the USA version.
I been using minimed for 16 years.
Jim – The system available in Europe has a different SmartGuard algorithm.
For what reason are the algorithms different. Is one better. How does this difference effect the pump or the user features?
Thanks for your response.
Trying to locate the correct information on sensor changing and charging the transmitter. I am confused on numbers of days to use the sensor and how long to charge the transmitter.
Hi Brian – The Enlite sensor is approved for 6 days of use. We recommend charging the transmitter each time you change the sensor. In these cases, it usually takes about 20 minutes to charge. You can find more information about charging your transmitter here: http://www.medtronicdiabetes.com/customer-support/sensors-and-transmitters-support/care-transmitter and more information about sensor changes here http://www.medtronicdiabetes.com/customer-support/sensors-and-transmitters-support/change-sensor
Being a loyal Medtronic user for 7.5 years now, I was so excited to see this new 630 as it looks like it finally has nice features. BUT to abandon the mobile app connectivity completely (I figured that it would be built in now instead of the accessory), is ridiculous. It will be a deal breaker for me. I really hate to say that but that is a major shock that Medtronic would do this.
I was just looking at the competition over the last month as my 530 just seems out of date. Carrying yet another thing in my pocket that has to be charged to show me info on my phone is annoying. It’s nice when it works. But to get rid of even that option is crazy in my opinion.
Are the enlisted sensors compatible with the Revel pump?
No, they are not approved for use with the Revel insulin pump at this time.
Does the 630G force user to do a set change every 3 days?
Chad, infusion sets are approved for 2-3 days like with our other insulin pumps.
I simply cannot believe that this pump does not have Bluetooth connectivity built it. Every other pump on the market has Bluetooth capability built in. The screen looks great, but not including Bluetooth is a very big mistake.
Can you please tell me what the Pathway charge will be? I currently have a Revel 523-CGMS pump thru Medicare and Blue Cross.
Blue Cross pays for part of my CGMS costs.
Thanks
Mick, we’ll be finalizing upgrade programs in November. Please check back again with us later this fall.
What is the Medtronic pump model that will be able to change basal insulin rates on the fly based on CGM readings? Other than being waterproof, what features does this pump have over the 530G? It looks better, has a nicer screen and all, but what canit do that the 530G with CGM cannot?
Robert, the MiniMed 630G system features a fresh new insulin pump design that enables people with diabetes to personalize their diabetes management with customizable options. It comes with user-friendly menus and convenient features, including a simple user interface, and a remote bolus function from the CONTOUR NEXT LINK 2.4 Meter. This system does not automatically change basal rates. I can’t speak to future products but know that we’re hard at work on what’s next.
HOW CAN I PURCHASE THE g630 OUTRIGHT AS A CASH PURCHASE.
Hi Sonya, please call us at 1.800.646.4633 option 3 to discuss your options.
So excited to get this new pump in a few months but I have quite a supply of the Enlite Sensors for the 530G. I’ve read that the transmitter is different for the 630G but my question is…will the 530G SENSORS work with the new transmitter/new pump? I can’t stand to waste literally thousands in sensors. Thanks for your time.
Great to hear, Holly! And yes, while there is a new transmitter, you will still be able to use Enlite sensors.
Are there any silicon skins for the new 630G pump? The internet says they are, but I cannot find them. I will have my new onethis coming week.
You bet! Visit http://bit.ly/2b3w9kz. Enjoy your new system and let us know what you think!
Is this something Medicare will pay for? And all the continued supplies it will take?
Now that we have FDA approval, we’ll be partnering with payers to drive broad access for this new technology. More information will be shared when the MiniMed 670G system is available this spring.
I recently got the 630G to replace an out of warranty paradigm. It has lots of bells and whistles but I find it hard to believe that the design team had any UI or UX expertise. The interface has some of the most basic errors I’ve encountered in the design of a user interface. For example, if you want a user to concentrate on one number that they are changing on a screen, don’t make that number the same size as the six or seven other numbers on there, make it the only number they see. Most of the features require far more button presses than the paradigm did, which is a big disappointment. “It takes a lot of hard work to make something simple” (Steve Jobs) and, at least to my mind, the user interface on this pump fails spectacularly at being simple. The pump itself is a great piece of technology, but user friendly it is not.
Im with Joe. I have had the pump for a few weeks. The interface is not what I like. My previous pump was easier to navigate. What were they thinking. The water proof feature is great. To many pushes on the button to get through a task.
I completely agree. After using the 630g for four months I am daily amazed at how poorly the user interface is. There are two times too many steps to do anything. An amazingly annoying piece of technology. Amazing technology underneath yes! But designed by people who don’t actually push these buttons dozens of times a day.
Joe is right. The numbers should be larger. I never needed a lockscreen before. Just more in the way.
Karrie, I have the new 630G and it is great.
Two questions:
1. Can I order extra clips for this pump as I have been doing on previous minimum pumps? The clips break easily and I’d like to have some on reserve when it breaks.
2. As someone who started with the 630G early, an I get on a list to be one of the first for the new 670G?
Hi Bill – of course, you can order additional belt clips through our online store here: https://medtronicdiabetes.secure.force.com/store/cases–clips/630g-belt-clip/630g-belt-clip or by calling 800.646.4633 option 2. In regard to the eligibility for the upgrade to the MiniMed 670G system, you do qualify for the Priority Access program. We are in the process of finalizing details, but please feel free to check back with us next spring on next steps for the upgrade.
Do we already know how much the new 670G model will cost? Should be above $8,000, right? I can’t imagine MiniMed 670G price to be below 630G price.
Hi Steve – more information on pricing of the MiniMed 670G system will be shared in the spring when it’s commercially available.
Is the minimed-630g-insulin-pump-system available in South Africa as yet and if it is who can we contact.
Hi Anusha – currently the MiniMed 630G system is only available in the U.S., but you can reach out to your local Medtronic team to see what your options are.

With the 630G (and then 670G), when it arrives for my usage, do I need to configure it for CGM? If my CGM use somehow becomes compromised, will these two pumps work without it?
Under compromised conditions, and if the 630G or 670G are able to run without CGM, can you turn off the RF (radio frequency) transmitter on either pump? When working in some forms of astrophysics, RF can be very disruptive to high-intensity telescopes and other measurement devices.
Hi M – You can put the MiniMed 630G and MiniMed 670G insulin pumps in Airplane Mode. If a transmitter and sensor are connected to a pump, then when the pump is put into Airplane Mode, the transmitter will continue to collect sensor data and will store this in the transmitter for up to 10 hours.
Is there a 630g pump that is sized for 1.8ml reservoir or all the 630g pumps sized for 3.0ml
Hi Chris – the MiniMed 630G insulin pump is only approved for use with the 3mL reservoirs.
As soon as I heard about the new pump being approved for us in the US and filled out the form to have someone reach out to me about the new system to see how much it would be to go to it and have never received a call about it. I also refilled out the form a month ago and still nothing
I’m sorry to hear that Constance. I will share your information with our team and ask that someone reach out to you.
How will you link the 630G to the Carelink site?
Hi Jamie – you upload your data to CareLink with the CONTOUR® NEXT LINK meter or with the CareLink USB. To learn more, please visit: http://www.medtronicdiabetes.com/customer-support/carelink-personal/setup-account-personalcomputer
Does the Contour next link meter come with the initial shipment of the pump? Or is it purchased separately?
Hello Jena! The CONTOUR NEXT LINK 2.4 Meter should come with your MiniMed 630G insulin pump. If you did not receive it, please send us an email at dhelp@medtronic.com or call our 24 HelpLine at 800-646-4633 option 1.
Hi, I have the 630g pump. The clip that they have on here constantly slips off your pants or pajamas whatever you have it clipped on. My pump slipped off and almost fell in the toilet. It constantly falls and will disengage the quick set from wherever you have it inserted. Couldnt medtronics make this feature better. It is horrible. I wish i had stuck with my old pump. This one is very cheaply made. Isnt cmparable to anything. Insurance wont cover the strips for the contour meter that is linked to your pump. Cheap rubber cover to go over it. I really dont like this pump. Others please do your research before you change pumps.
Doris I just received my 630g pump over the weekend. I have to agree with you about the belt clip. Not good at all considering the cost of this pump, over $7,000, you would think that someone at Medtronic would have noticed. That being said, so far I love the mechanics of the pump and the new technology is fantastic! I previously used the 530g pump for 4 years and so far I’m impressed! Can’t wait for the 670g release. Hey Medtronic make a stronger belt clip!!!
Thanks Doris, we appreciate your feedback and have shared it with our team.
Yes, the clip is horrible. Doesn’t stay attached to anything. Pump constantly slips off.
The user-interface is terrible. Medtronic – what were you thinking?
I don’t think Medtronic has anyone who uses one of these devices putting any input into the UI design.
Medtronic – shame on you for producing something this bad.
I prefer my previous pump in all ways.
I just received my 630G today. While unpacking it I realized that there are no CGM supplies anywhere. Aren’t they supposed to be included?
Hi Steven – it does depend on your particular situation and where you stand with CGM. We’d love to look into this for you. Please send us an email at dhelp@medtronic.com.
Hi, my husband’s new 630G has all sounds turned off. He is a tech expert in his field and has had the pump since he was 15 years old. Now with the 630 G it continues to go off during the night telling him his blood sugar is low when it really isn’t. The MiniMed CGM is often 30-60 units off no matter where he places it. Is there anyway to alleviate these issues so we can get some sleep at night?
thanks a bunch,
Candi
Hi Candi, I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s troubles with the CGM and alarms. I’d like to connect him with our 24 HelpLine to see how we can help. Please have him send an email with his contact information to dhelp@medtronic.com.
I like my new Minimed 630G a lot. The only annoying thing is the battery only lasts about one week. week before running out. I’m not sure if this is normal or simply a fact of life due to the large color screen.
Hi Angelo – I’ve asked that our 24 HelpLine reach out to discuss the problems you’ve been having with your battery.
Hey Angelo try using Enegizer Ultimate Lithium AA battery. I have had this battery in now going on 4 weeks.
Just started wearing the 630g. Too many butttons to push before you can give a simple bolus. The clip is horrible and weak. I do hope Medtronic is working on both issue.
Thanks Colleen, we have heard feedback like yours and are looking into this.
The 630g is going to be available in Canada in April 2017–is this correct?
Hi Ken – we are the US team, but understand that the MiniMed 630G system is available for pre-order in Canada. Please contact your local team at 1-800-284-4416 for more information.
any word on developing an app for the 630 G? seems insane that the older model has the capability and the newer doesn’t. I’m new to a pump and feel like I got ripped off by not having this capability 🙁
Hi Jami – I am sorry to hear that you feel that way. We have heard feedback like yours and are looking into this. The MiniMed Connect app uses a different radio frequency (RF) to communicate with the MiniMed 530G system than the RF frequency that the MiniMed 630G system uses. The decision to not provide backwards compatibility was made to support faster technological advancements with this and future generations of products.
I agree with Jami. Terrible marketing decision by Medtronic.
I am about to be a new user of the 630g system. I was setting up my auto order for supplies, but I’m running into an issue. I am on the Medtronic Store looking at the reservoirs and it says the 3ml (MMT-332a) is not the correct reservoir. I thought the rep said the reservoirs were pre-filled cartridges. I found minimed reservoir 3.0ml on my formulary. Did they update the pump since the user guide was published in pdf?
Hi Dawn – no, the MiniMed 630G system does use the 3mL reservoirs (MMT-332A). Please give us a call at 800-646-4633, option 2 so we can get this set-up appropriately for you.
Pre-filled reservoirs ? is this something New? -Cheers
Sorry. I guess I ran across this when I was researching pumps and it was for another pump. The comments on the reservoirs on the website says “Not for use with 630g pump”….until you actually click the 3.0ml reservoir and the next screen says it’s for all minimed models. Sorry for the confusion.
Is it possible to pre-fill reservoirs and keep them refrigerated until needed?
I actually prefill reservoir and refridgerate them or wrap them in aluminum foil particularly if I anticipate running out while hiking or at work and don’t want to carry lots of extra things. I’ve never had an issue pre filling reservoirs and using them days later.
what phones are compatible with the minimed 630g?
Breeanna, at this time the MiniMed Connect app is not compatible with the MiniMed 630G or MiniMed 670G systems.
Is the 630g water proof for using in a salt water pool?
Ardath, we have only tested in fresh water at up to 12 feet for 24 hours. We have not performed the same testing in salt water. As salt water is known to be relatively more corrosive, when using the pump in salt water our recommendation would be to thoroughly rinse in fresh water afterward. For general pump care, see https://www.medtronicdiabetes.com/loop-blog/10-tips-minimed-insulin-pump-care/.
How long do you have to be on the 630g before you can sign up for priority access for the 670g? I have been waiting for the 630g to be shipped to me for almost two months. I was just curious if I could just get on priority access and just skip the 630g since I still haven’t received it? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Hi Alonzo, the Priority Access program is now closed. If you’re interested in purchasing the MiniMed 670G system, I’d recommend talking with your device specialist about your options on getting that system as opposed to the MiniMed 630G system.
Any updates on when the 630g will works with phones?
Ben, thanks for checking in. Our team is hard at work on development, but I do not have a timeline or any updates to share. We will be sure to let you know once we have more information available.
Back in Nov. 2017 I notified Medtronic of cracks that developed in my transmitter. I was getting weird readings . I was told by my Medtronic therapy leader I could up grade to the 630G system. It is now Feb. 2018 and haven’t received the system because of a hurricane where they are manufactured. When will shipment of this system be available again? I’m surprised that a company as big as Medtronic is taking so long on recovering. My A1c’s are going up since my transmitter cracks have developed. I have been type 1 for 45 years and take my health issue very seriously.
Judy, thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. Our MiniMed 630G system is back in stock and orders are being released as they are ready. I recommend reaching out to your device specialist at 800.646.4633, option 3, to check on the status of your order. If you need help getting connected, let us know at dhelp@medtronic.com, along with a phone number you can be reached at and we’ll put you in touch with the right person.
Hello!
Any updates on when the Minimed 630G insulin pump will be compatibles with phones? I’m not just talking about Android phones, but iPhones users as well like me. This is one of the nicest features I would like to see in my new pump acquired in December 2017 and would love to have this feature sometime soon. I’m sure I speak for a lot of the 630G users when I say that being able to view data on my phone directly would be a very VERY nice touch to this already exceptional insulin pump!
Please push your IT and programming development teams to come out with this new feature sometime soon! Users have been demanding this feature for nearly 2 years now. Please listen to us!!! =)
Canadian Minimed 630G user
Hi there, Aleksi. We hear you loud and clear! Our community worldwide has let us know how important remote monitoring and connectivity features are to their diabetes management and our team is hard at work to make this available. Unfortunately, I don’t have a timeline to share, but I encourage you to stay in touch with your local team for updates. Thanks for your comment!
Why does it seem that every model is larger than preceding models? Is it just me? Every successive pump I get from minimed is bigger than the last, making it more inconvenient (especially) as a runner.
I recently received and started using my minime 630g. I do have a few complaints with it. Just like my old pump, the vibration and audible signals are inadequate.
The next issue is that I feel this device was not designed or programmed by anyone that has to live with one of these devices on a daily basis. I never counted before, with my old pump, but I know it was much less troublesome to use. Specifically, in order to deliver any bolus amount, I have to click buttons a minimum of 9 times and as many as 13 times! Seems a bit excessive to me. I was happier with the old one but my next complaints are; I know that in order to meet sales goals new items are designed, limitations are imposed and warranties are set so that insurance companies and those suffering with diabetes can be strongarmed into purchasing two hundred dollar devices for many thousands of dollars.
Thank you for the feedback, Randall. Changes were made to the menu starting with our MiniMed 630G system and for certain features make require more button presses. Please know, we worked extremely close with the FDA and other experts in the field of diabetes for our newest devices, in an effort to ensure the safest possible device. If you’d like to discuss your concerns in more detail, please give us a call at 800.646.4633, option 1.
I am considering a 630G system as part of the Animas Exchange Program. I have spoken with several reps, all giving me different information on the pump, which is becoming very frustrating. My main concern is insurance coverage. Are there any insurance specialists who can help me ? While the pump is covered, I need to know if my insurance will cover the Enlite sensors and the glucose strips that need to be used with the ContourNextLink 2.4. Also, if these supplies are NOT covered, can the 630G be used without them, and function with manual input of glucose readings from a different glucose meter????
I’m sorry for any confusion, Coleen. Our insurance verification team is not a call taking team, but we’d be happy to get you connected with someone who can answer any questions for you. Please send your contact info to dhelp@medtronic.com and we’ll be in touch.
I have seen many people commenting about the links and connection . it seems no one has ever thought of automatic delivery and sensor being made as one product. Being a diabetic is different than someone who has no experience on actually being one of the person who daily wake up and take glucose test reading , calculating meal, calculating dose , seeing it is now time to change cannula or to check if the cannula is really intact or if it is bleeding or soar site or there are many many more aspects I can put forward but all I see people giving out is coloured screen, remote control , and water resistance, really ??? are you all happy with these things? don’t anyone want a 1 single pump that is perfect. Being is diabetic is not in everyone’s hand it come natural in time. But for this in the name of technology al we get is water resistance and big screen and remote control. A person who doesn’t even know swimming what is water resistance pump will do for it ? A person who is daily checked at mall for his pump and asked if this is some sort of mechanism to explode or dangerous stuff what does a remote control matter to him? all we need is a simple device which anyone can buy and use. The companies with the technology is getting richer and people with diabetes are getting poorer because they cannot afford such heavy expenditures. Think about it before selling or even smiling to a diabetics person and tell them everything is alright.
There are many things one can add to expand. Why people are not thinking about introducing something that is stable atleast at one thing. First pump uses triple A batt now pump uses simple batt and the design is more heavier. I m not concerned with the menu and giving shots im concerned mainly with the dose and calculations . why cant it be simple and more sophisticated design which can evolve into something far more better expect to just add a remote control to it. people who are diabetic don’t think of such things im sure every one think of a pump that delivers without using more hand work. A pump that will detect sugar level in blood and calculate dose accordingly and send in , it wil stop if low occurs and starts if normal. 3 steps is all required for a perfect pump. If we see any model of minimed they work simple without using sensors. and without sensor all pumps are just doing 1 unit every hour and nothing much . 1 pump is so costly that not everyone can buy it. and on top of it there are many other things which a diabetic can add including medical expenses , cost of pump related peripherals etc etc .
I bought a case for mini med 630g. Your website said the one I ordered would fit all minded pumps but it didn’t fit the 630g. Could get no help from customer service on which one would fit the 630g.

Hi there, Jan. Currently, our insulin pump systems display data on the pump only, but we are working on connectivity features for our pumps. We’ll be sure to share updates as they become available.
