Order diabetes supplies through Medtronic

Need supplies? Here's how to order on Diabetes.shop.

Ordering is simple — but timing and process can vary based on a few factors. In most cases, you can purchase supplies and devices directly through Medtronic. However, some insurance plans may have specific requirements. If your insurance requires you to order through a different company, they’ll be the best resource to guide you. To help you stay on track with Medtronic orders, here’s everything you need to know:

When to place an order

As a general rule, we recommend placing your next order when you open your last box of supplies. Depending on your insurance plan, you may be eligible to order every 30, 60, or 90 days — most orders get placed every 90 days to allow extra time for any needed prescriptions, documents, and shipping. To make sure you’re ordering at the right time, supply order reminders can be helpful! Opt in for email or text reminders in your Communication preferences.

Supply orders can take up to two weeks to arrive. Some insurance plans, like Medicare, may also have unique requirements that determine how often you can order, so be sure to check your coverage for details.

How to place an order

There are two types of Medtronic orders:

  • Scheduled orders – Automatic recurring shipments are convenient, customizable shipments you can set up, view, and manage online based on your individual needs. These can be set up online, via text, or over the phone.
  • One-time orders – A single purchase placed as needed. Order online, via text, or over the over the phone. A custom order can be placed online, based on your personal quantity and prescription needs.

When placing an order, don’t forget everything that you need! For example, an integrated insulin pump system will need reservoirs, infusion sets, and glucose sensors. You can also purchase items like test strips, extra tape, or accessories. Your healthcare professional who prescribes your device will help to determine the specific products recommended for you.

If your insurance requires you to order supplies from a distributor, contact the company directly. If you’re not sure, call 1-800-646-4633, option 2 (Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. CT) and we can help you.
