This Valentine’s Day, Spare A Rose And Save A Child

At Medtronic, we love seeing when the diabetes community gets involved with a campaign that can help people with diabetes and “Spare a Rose, Save a Child” is no exception to this. This community initiative was created by Kelly Close, Manny Hernandez, Bennet Dunlap, Kerri Sparling, and Jeff Hitchcock, with the following premise: “Spare a Rose, Save a Child” is simple: buy one less rose this Valentine’s Day and share the value of that flower with a child with diabetes in the developing world. Your loved one at home still gets flowers and you both show some love to someone across the world who needs it.Here is what our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Francine Kaufman, has to say about this initiative: “If roses are a sign of love, donating to Life for a Child is a sign of hope. Hope that together we can make a difference in the life of a child with diabetes, in a place on this earth where that diagnosis might likely be a death sentence without our help.”
All proceeds go to Life for a Child, a program of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Program through February 16th. So join us, our friends in the diabetes community, and IDF to spread awareness of this effort. Blog, tweet, post and spread the word then make a donation by visiting the IDF website today!
