Diabetes Month: Walking For A Cure With JDRF And ADA

Diabetes Month: Walking For A Cure With JDRF And ADA | The LOOP Blog

One of the reasons I enjoy working for Medtronic is because of the employees’ willingness to get involved and reach out to the diabetes community. The leaders of the organization encourage employees to live out the mission: alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life. Partnering with our local JDRF and ADA teams in Los Angeles and San Antonio to raise money for a cure is a great way to do this! Over the last few months, employees have held a variety of fundraisers to help fund a cure. Some of the most popular ones are the JDRF and ADA walk events where hundreds of employees, families, and friends joined together to support two valuable national diabetes non-profit organizations.

The JDRF and ADA walks are fantastic ways to make a difference in the millions of lives of people affected by diabetes. Customers that we serve everyday are able to have this special day where they join together with those who care to help celebrate and support the mission to find a cure.

The walks were huge successes! There were tents with games for the kids, and volunteers on hand to pass out snacks to walkers. Lenny the Lion was also on site taking full advantage of all of the photo opportunities with enthusiastic walkers.

This year, Medtronic employees have supported the JDRF and ADA with various fundraising events such as jewelry sales, movie screenings, raffles, casual dress passes, and sporting events; you name it and we have probably done it to raise money for a cure! We are honored to have donated $320,000 to the JDRF and raised over $108,000 for the ADA.

What an amazing feeling it is to have so many employees give so much of themselves for a worthy cause, and the best part is…we aren’t even done, yet! Take a moment to check out some of our photos from the recent walks and share with us in the comments below how you like to participate in your local diabetes community!Lenny_Full
